______ She sips her tea and checks the time again. Jace is only fifteen minutes late, he'll be here soon. She pats down her jewelry and runs her tongue over her teeth - it's a nervous habit. The waitress gives her a sad little smile, as she walks by, that brings a red tinge to Rodelle's cheeks. She spares another glance at the clock and then drags her eyes down to the menu for the eighteenth time. She's ordering fish of course.

______ "Ready to order?" The waitress asks, startling Rochelle.
"No, no. No thanks - I'm still waiting for someone."
They make eye contact and she can feel the knowing apologetic stare the waitress gives her. She checks the time again as the waitress wonders off. 'Alrighty, he's twenty-five minutes late now. Do I leave? Do I stay? Do I say screw it and order already?'

______ Rodelle figets with the menu as her mood gets worse. She finally decides to just leave, when a dark skinned girl she'd never seen before, plops down in front of her, explaining loudly, "Hey babe! Sorry I'm late, it's been a heck of day!"
The girl leaned in and softy added, "I'm Terra, run with it. Whoever stood ya up is a jerk."
Rochelle laughed and agreed to just go with it, because Terra was just the sweetest thing she'd ever seen.

______ They ordered and drank and talked and laughed. Rodelle couldn't believe she was having a much better time than she had ever expected to have with Jace; and so when the meal was over and Terra asked if she could see her again, Rodelle just grinned and nearly shouted,
"Oh yes you can."
