Spruce

Confused for a branch once while napping in a tall tree, Spruce was suddenly chosen as the perch for several chickadees. Eager to not scare them or have them fly away, she kept herself very still and stayed in the tree for much longer than she'd originally planned. As they settled in comfortably, she also found herself relaxing and breathing more visibly. Luckily, this didn't scare them away. In fact, one of the more bolder, curious ones hopped across her neck from her back and over to her face. It sat perched on her nose and looked into her eyes. She panicked at first, worried that her eyes would frighten it since it would signify that she was a dragon and not a tree. However, her worries were allayed as it started singing to her. She smiled and hummed along. The birds stayed for a bit longer and eventually flew off.

That was not at all the end of their friendship. She and the birds would meet in that tree at least twice a week until they finally decided to stay in her company all of the time. They trusted her and knew she would not harm them and actually felt safer with her, and warmer. She felt much happier and loved with them since prior to their entrance into her life, she was more of a loner. It wasn't that she was weird or specifically outcasted, she just felt that she never really fit in with any other dragons and felt judged by them. She is a very strong introvert that prefers spending silence in nature, just listening to the sounds around her and speaking only when absolutely necessary. Despite her breed, she's a vegetarian and that sometimes got her weird looks.

But now in Vixen's Clan, she is quite content. They welcomed her antics and her little companions with open arms. She likes having a clan now that respects her and also cares for her. She specifically has gotten close to Barbegazi and Sunrise, an Ice Tundra and Fire Snapper, that are very calm, peaceful, and are also very warm. They seem to understand her and treat her very well. She likes that. She likes having a place to belong now while still being able to maintain her habits and hobbies. She also became very familiarized with the Lightning Pearlcatcher called Weald, who is the resident tailor of the clan. His company is quiet and she feels safe with him. Although they don't call each other mates, they have laid a couple nests together.

After a long time alone, Spruce eventually found affection with a newcomer named Solstice--a Fire Pearlcatcher. She had always been the one that would decorate the clan grounds for the holidays and put in the most hype during Christmas in particular. But when Solstice joined as the clan's new Event Coordinator, she didn't feel threatened or like she had to compete, but rather felt grateful for the help and company. He was glad to work with her, and looked to her for advice and help, as the senior "planner" in the clan. She really liked his character and overall aura and found herself most talkative when he was near. He just assumed this was her regular personality as he didn't know any different, but found out from other clan members that she's usually quite taciturn and reserved. When they realized that they both shared affection for the other, they officially chose the other as mates.
