Biography

Xanthophylls are a group of yellow carotenoid pigments that causes the autumn colors of leaves. It is typically seen in plants, though xanthophyll occurs in animals too, like in the yolk of eggs. The other group of pigments in the carotenoid group are the carotenes, famous for making carrots orange, which are typically more orange than xanthophylls.

This bright, sunny dragon loves to help others recover, whether from an emotional or a medical trauma. He is an excellent listener, and his patience seems to know no bounds. He wants what is best for everyone. When he is not helping others, he enjoys listening to storytellers unfold long, multi-tiered stories before him.

Xanthophyll is friendly and trusting to the point of naïvité. Almost any dragon can gain his trust and easily con him because he has so much faith in others always doing the right thing. He isn't competitive, either, and only joins in competitions to ensure that everyone has fun. Sure, winning is nice, but what's nicer is everyone's smiles! He also refuses to use any remotely dirty tactics or traps which often places him at the bottom of any competition.

He's of average intelligence, even if his overly kind nature suggests otherwise. He isn't completely dumb and innocent like a newborn hatchling and the moment a situation becomes severely dangerous, he runs, preferrably dragging as many others with him, out of that area.

He isn't great at plant identification, despite his skill as a healer. He can tell what plants are good for sicknesses or pains but little else. Thankfully, his close friend Serperior is able to pick up the slack and identify any other plant for him. They're often found together out gathering healing herbs and tasty plants.
