Gryphon Gryphon always received more attention for the brightness and colour of his scales and wings than he wanted. His clans tradition was that each family had an heirloom, and when the eldest passed it was given to the next eldest, and continued down that way. His family's heirloom was a shadowy cloak that he believed would help him hide. He slayed his father in desperation, but when his clan threw him out as a kin-killer, he had nowhere to go. An opportunistic leader found the beaten down and still young dragons' potential, and turned him into an obedient warrior. This took long and rigorous training and battles that Gryphon barely endured. This master fell in battle, and Gryphon resumed his quest to become unseen, still with his father's cloak. He sought out a magic cure, and he found himself making a deal with a nature clan shaman so that he could only be detected when he wanted to, with limitations of course. For example if he was walking down a road, travelers wouldn't see him, but a keen eyed guard would notice him straight away. The shaman, in exchange, took his ability to tell a lie. This has led Gryphon to become mostly silent, and only talking when in response due to his obedient nature. He became an excellent debt collector due to his obedience and inability to lie, and also his stealth abilities, and he worked as such for quite some time. Until he laid eyes upon Mykia. He immediately left the work he was doing to become whatever she needed of him. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. She picked him as a mate for his abilities and for the chance that the perfect dragon might come of their union, a Crimson dragon with Iridescent scales, Golden Butterfly wings and a Glimmering Golden underside. He knows that he will likely be cast down when this dragon hatches, but he remains loyal until then. |
