Gray is the color of sadness and depression;
a stifling silence where we can't fight the oppression.
Void of color, and all but stripped of life,
our world is one that's gotten turned to internal strife.
There's something in the quiet that's just beautiful and deadly,
With every word, we're falling into it more steadily,
Even now, those knives and scissors are lookin' friendly,
But we're not alone in the gray, and people love us a'plenty.
Lightning is the spark
of blue that lights the dark
Providing a shelter where
we can make our mark.
Just a speck in the shadow,
its like a cat with a mouse;
But even a thin line
can draw you a house.
Even if the gray has
broken all my ties,
my soul's still shining blue
right here in my eyes.
Assume too much of "one or another,"
I'm the girl who looks like she could be your brother.
Don't bother waiting, or you'll be waiting forever,
I'm not all that you say I should be
But I am the only one that's me.
You need wild claws to walk tough streets,
Can't let yourself surrender, got no retreats,
Ain't the biggest or the baddest, no, not by a mile...
But I'm strong cuz I got it in me to give a smile.
Pretty short for an angel, but I got these wings,
This cherub's here to tell you
"You are your own kings,"
So take this hand and get up
on your feet and take flight!
