Personality
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯Valera is intelligent, intense, and inquisitive. She is a self-motivated in her studies, which happen to be dragon anatomy and shade research. Unlike Jim, whose shade research falls more on purifying academia, Valera is solely interested about the effects of shade infection on dragons and other creatures. Among legal society, Valera is a renowned surgeon who dedicates her time in the rehabilitation of previously shade-infected dragons. However, behind closed doors, Valera is the head scientists in conducting unethical experiments on dragons infected with shade, or infected through the experiment. Most of her moral concerns and emotional feelings are bottled up inside a strong mask of apathy. There is very little that will move her heart as she has experimented on a plethora of dragons of all varieties, including hatchlings. If she wasn’t from the Viridian Labyrinth, some might even call her an Ice Empress. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Early Years
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯She’s not certain if Carmine had bought her legally or had taken her illegally, but for as long as she could remember, she has been a daughter of the Viperaden. While she was hatched in the Viridian Labyrinth, she ended up traveling and living around the Wastelands with Carmine’s clan. She was trained under her elders watch, however most of her parental care came from her older brother Siren and Pippin. When Pippin left, she was devastated and begged Siren not to leave either. As she got older, her emotional outbursts and, well, any emotional reaction became minimal to none existent. Any expression is now very subtle and really only detected by those her know her well, or have good observation skills. Like Jim and Siren, she received specialized training as she got older. Carmine wanted her to become a doctor and so Valera received training within that field. As she started to take care of herself independently, she focused on becoming a surgeon and, through her brother Jim, started shade research. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯After a series of failed projects, Hanna was her first experiment gone right. She wanted to test and observe whether a shade introduced to an unhatched egg could form more than just a symbiotic bond. Often, however, it resulted in the death of the hatchling prior to it hatching or, if it did hatch, several deformities. Hanna, an arcane egg stolen and smuggled to the Viridian Labyrinth was infected with a weak sentient shade and incubated in an environment that simulated the Starfall isles. Not only did Hanna hatch, but he had hatch without any visible deformities. Curiously, she didn’t notice the shade until after he ate the eggshell and spat out his pearl later, which was a black globe of tar and several eyes blinking at once. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯She doesn't really see age as an excuse from censoring information and experiences from hatchlings and young dragons. If she sees capability, she likes to offer the opportunity to those dragons. This is why Anat has helped Valera with her experiments since a very young age. Through Valera’s tutelage, Anat has been exposed to things no dragon should see. On the flip side, she will omit important information about Hanna to other dragons, like the fact that he’s infected, to see how her pet project will react. She has even done this to Jim and Lurk with their two kids. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯She has a devoted Cockatrice that she has given her entire backyard to. Jesse is convinced that this is the only way they, the siblings, will ever come close to seeing actual compassion in Valera. Valera usually responds with an obscene gesture. Still, it’s fitting that a terrifying and pompous bird would be dedicated to an equally terrifying and conservative dragon. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Job Description
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯Valera is a surgeon in a major city located in the dense forest of the shrieking wilds. She works on dragons that have been injured by other beast inhabitants within the dense forest, but also on dragons suffering from shade infections and other physical injuries that woudl require surgery. She also conducts a more covert business as a scientist that experiments on unfortunate dragons with captured shade. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

Valera’s name was a spur of the moment choice. It was based off a villain from a movie that my friend and I were barely watching. We joked about the name and then I impulsively gave the name to her. It fits her. Her current genes are perfect, I love my busy, demon daughter.
