- Cursed after angering a spirit belonging to the Plaguebringer, Yanisin carries the marks of those who are known as the "Wayward Ones": The "Wayward Ones" are lost souls of those cursed by spirits, who must roam between life and death to complete an almost impossible task granted by the spirit. In Yanisin's case, his task is to get a scale from the Wind's Elder Dragon, The Windsinger, and bring it into the Realm of the Spirits to give to the spirit he angered in his native clan. Because of this, Yanisin must walk between the Realm of the Spirits and the Realm of the Being until he can fulfill the task. As part of the curse, he can never fully abide in either Realm, lest he face a greater punishment from the spirit. This is why he is specifically known as "The Wayward Soul".

-The marks of the Wayward Ones are as followed: covered eyes, blighted runes, spellbound claws, and the most important one of all, the Brands of Onus.
-Depending on the element from which the spirit hails from, the Brands of Onus may differ. In this case, the angered spirit was one of the Plaguebringer's, and branded Yanisin by marring his flesh with wounds that will never seal until his deed is done (these wounds glow a gold-ish hue on his body). The ribbons wrapped around his body are also part of the branding, and read, "FORGOTTEN CHILD, WHO WILL REMEMBER YOU?"

-The familiar that follows him around is also apart of the curse. The Greybeak Reaper, whose name is Rashaw, is a moderator assigned by the spirit. He ensures that Yanisin does not cheat death nor settles down in one Realm for too long as ordered by the spirit. However, as the years stretched on, Rashaw treacherously grew fond of Yanisin as his friend. It is due to this risky friendship, that Rashaw risks his neck by helping Yanisin get closer day by day to completing the spirit's task.
-Rashaw can take two forms: The Greybeak Reaper or The Riot Hazebeacon. In the Realm of the Being he takes the Reaper form, but as soon as he crosses over to the Realm of the Spirits, he is forced into what is considered his "true form", The Riot Hazebeacon.

-After being cursed by the spirit, his clan outcasted him and gave him his banished name, "Yanisin", which is to say "ashamed" in his native clan's tongue. A haunting song commemorates the day he was banished; it is sung in his clan as a cautionary tale.
-Be it due to the passage of time or an unaccounted effect of the curse, Yanisin cannot remember his birth name.

-Currently, Yanisin and Rashaw have stopped to rest in the Realm of the Being of the clan, Aeolia of the Winds. As the curse does not let Yanisin abide in a Realm for too long, they will leave to continue their journey to the Windsinger once they have formulated a well-devised plan. For now, they rest.
