In a cave hidden within the Viridian Labyrinth, a Nature egg shook with such ferocity it tumbled over in its nest. The egg split open like a flower in bloom and a dark Guardian hatchling tumbled out. The rather large hatchling trembled as he scrambled to his feet. Bright green eyes darted around as he tried to comprehend his surroundings.

The soft light of glowing mushrooms allowed him to see the rock walls of the cavern and leaves and sticks that made up his nest. He could hear a babbling brook and smell the variety of critters living among the cave. He shifted and looked for a mother or father, but he could neither hear, smell, nor see anyone like him.

Fortunately, dragons are not born helpless. With the help of his instincts, the hatchling took care of himself. He learned the ways of the cave and eventually the outside world. He grew strong and defended his territory from outsiders. Eventually he chose his own name: Devilbane. He would be the torment of those who wished him harm.

Once he reached adolescence, his instincts drove him to start the Search. Bane began to wander the forests, glens, and fields of the Viridian Labyrinth. His hulking form made it hard to navigate the thick forests and underbrush, but he learned how to move silently. He was a hunter after all.

Bane was used to being solitary at this point in his life, but his instinct continued to drive him onward. He had to find his Charge.

After many moons of searching, the Guardian male spotted a female Tundra who nearly blended in with her surroundings. He observed her and his gut drove him to introduce himself. She was munching on some leaves when he called out, startling her. Before he could do anything else, she had puffed herself up in a defensive position and was snarling at him.

Bane quickly dipped into a crouch, bowing his head low and apologizing. He heart was racing with fear and anxiety. This was her, his Charge. The Search was over. He swallowed hard and a low rumble started in his chest. When the sound reached the female she relaxed. It was as if by that sound alone she was soothed - she understood what was happening.

Though he tried to lay claim to her, Bane spent the nest few moons of his life courting Kimiko. He brought her presents of shiny things and provided her with food and shelter. Eventually he won her over and the pair settled into a territory to start their family.

Eventually the pair formed Clan Wisteria.

He is the scrutinizer of Kimiko's 'welcome everyone' attitude. Bane will allow the addition of dragons their clan after much scrutiny. However, he will enforce rules and exile dragons if needed. As such a large dragon, he doesn't need to do much to make sure everyone follows the rules. A toothy grin will often frighten the younger dragons into submission.

Despite his proud and tough demeanor, Bane is a tender father, and wants his family to have the best of everything. Though outwardly gruff, his actions are all for the benefit of his clan and family, but especially his Charge Kimi and daughter Korsha.

Bane is equal to Kimi, but he has his own duties. He oversees the protection plan for their clan and territory. He also helps to train weaker dragons to fight off intruders and hunt for meat. He also hoards gold and treasure in his cave. This is a secret from all but Kmiko and Korsha, who know that he will use the sales from such treasures to aid the clan if needed.

While of average length and wingspan, Bane has enough muscle to outweigh some of the longest of dragons. With rippling muscles all over his body, he can be very intimidating to dragons much smaller than him. This does cause strain on his wings, therefore he has trouble flying for long distances. As a Guardian, he is larger than all but a few in his clan.
