Elegy

Status: Undead

Beautiful | Delicate | Mindless | Obedient

Among all the horrors of the Workshop, Elegy stands out as an anomaly. Far from terrifying, she is actually rather beautiful and well-kept. Unlike many of the zombies, her body is fully intact with no missing pieces and very few maggots. She could, in fact, pass as a living dragon if one did not examine her too closely. Unlike the other zombies, Elegy is not a soldier nor is she a slave. In fact, her only purpose appears to be following
Rancid around, holding his books.

Few in the Workshop know the sad truth about Elegy. She was created as a replacement for Rancid's firstborn daughter, who died in infancy. Rancid keeps Elegy carefully preserved in order to honor his lost child's memory. Whenever Elegy rips a wing or tears off a scale, Rancid painstakingly repairs it by hand each and every time. He spoils Elegy by dressing her in fine jewelry and flowers. Rumor has it that Rancid thinks Elegy is his daughter, reborn into a new form. Few have the heart to tell him that Elegy has no personality of her own and is, at best, a glorified doll.
