Whether or not she's a true 'sister' Rabia would probably try to give Slug piggy back rides and gush about how cool she is and just generally love her. There's very few dragons Rabia doesn't like tbh

If you call Slug's name, a massive lizard head will poke out of the swamp water. If you hold out a chunk of rotten meet, she will run to you, begging for the chunk. The first bogsneak in the Tribe, her existence has been limited to the scraps of meat she and her brothers share while they play in the swamp waters. Her crocodilian brothers don't mind her presence, and she loves them.
Her loyalty to her mother is uncanny. Rescued from Ursa from a terrible dragoness, Ursa cannot travel anywhere anymore without her loyal pet.
Due to Slug's near death when she was an infant, her mental development is seriously stunted, which provides a little cocoon of naivety around her. Thanks to Ursa, she can't hear the bad words aimed at her.

Mutant.
Fiend.
Filth.
Demon.
Stade-stunted.
Unnatural.

Slug carries blissfully on, waiting for her next chunk of meat.

The night rang with the footsteps of the stranger.
Leaping over roots and logs, breath misting the air in front of her, she clutched the parcel and ran harder.

Behind her was the pack. The instructions were simple. Kill her. They knew she was flagging, that she couldn't keep up the pace any further. They herded her deeper into the forest, where the trees were so thick she couldn't take off. They continued to run, heads low to the floor.

The stranger kept running, looking behind her to gauge the distance between her. Crashing into a bush, she felt the thorns rip into her skin, and stick. She was pinned, like a dying butterfly. The pack halted upon seeing her, struggling to get free. The closest lunged for her throat, but not before she threw the package. The cloth slipped as it sailed through the air, revealing a green, cracked stone, before another wildclaw caught it. Pausing to nod to the pack, he ran off, cackling as half the pack began to chase their new prey, as the other half finished her off.

The package was heavy, and its burden certainly slowed him down. The pack was gaining on him for sure. Gripping tighter, the wildclaw set his sights on the edge of the forest and dove through, sliding onto the edge of the cliff. The pack soon followed him onto the cliff, but didn't pause like the last time. They gathered themselves and launched at him, ready to take themselves off the cliff with him if need be. Holding the stone up in the air, he screamed a battle cry as a large, sinuous body impacted with him.

No one had seen the imperial.

The mirror pack screamed and tried to fly after the quickly disappearing imp, but the height of the cliff scared them off. Growling and snapping at each other, they turned around and headed back to the dead wildclaw. their job had been done. But they had lost the stone.

━━━━━━━━━━━━ 2 ━━━━━━━━━━━

The crack oozed its steady goo. The wildclaw tilted the stone and watched the goo drip out. Sniffing it, he held it to the imp, who snorted and turned his head away.
""Ay, d'y'know what dis is about?""

The imperial grumbled, and kicked at the fire dully.
""You didn't stick to the plan.""

""Ay and so what? We got da stone, even if Yuto cracked it a li'l.""

""And Yuto ended up dead. This wouldn't have happened if you'd just stuck to the plan.""

""Pah, expendable. Be'er er than me, I reck'in. Life's tough when ya a mercen...""

""Mercenary. You were supposed to back her up. After we hand this thing over to Axa, I want nothing more to do with you. If luck goes my way, you'll kill yourself before us both.""

""Aww, ligh'en up ol guy.She did er job, and we ge' our pay. You act like we go' Morals or summin."" The wildclaw gestured with his hands, as if wiggling his hands made the word 'morals' more significant. ""Besides. She 'ired me to kill sommun. She hired Yuto to steal summin. She hired you to get me back. As far as I go, my quo'a's filled."" Leaning back, the stone on his stomach, the wildclaw crossed his arms and closed his eyes, smirking.

It only took one bite to snap his neck.
Munching on wildclaw steaks, the imperial stared intensely at the stone. It took years for him to learn not to question why he was hired for missions, but this one seemed one of the oddest. The stone wasn't that special, even. A large crack ran down the side of what appeared to be large green scales. The nest of shadow snakes they'd stolen it from appeared to have been drilling away at the stone, forcing it to open. The imp didn't want to damage it further. There was money in this.

━━━━━━━━━━━━ 3 ━━━━━━━━━━━

The swamp where she resided was a horrible place. The fog carried the stench of death, and the bloated corpses of animals were more common than their alive brethren. Toads sang and biting insects nestled into the imps hair as he waded through the quagmire, looking for the rotten excuse of a boardwalk. Sweat dripped off his mane, and the stone slipped around in its cloth wrapping, feeling like it would fall out with every step. Rotten things under the water squished and popped under his step, and he gritted his teeth. 'They were just roots,' he thought.
'They were just roots.'

""Axa.""

The ridgeback turned around to greet the grizzled imperial. Decorated in silks and finery, the ridgeback appeared to melt with gold, but the delicate tinkling of knives at her belt and poisons on her claws hinted at a profession much deadlier. Smiling slowly, Axa batted her eyelids at the imperial, daring to reach out and caress his chin. Standing there, dripping in bogwater and sweat, his inadequacy in front of her reeked, as she took a proper look at him and sneered.

""Do you have something I require, darling?"" Her voice slithered, her tongue snaking between her lips. The glint of claw appeared near his eyes as she held her hand to his cheek. Moving away from her touch, the imperial pulled the stone out of his satchel.

""They cracked it before we got there, but we returned it in the same condition, ma'am.""

Taking it from him, and placing it in the crook of her arm, she placed a hand in her purse- and the stone shook. Curiously glancing at it, Axa, the imp, and whoever was nearby turned and watched the stone. The crack slid down further, and another started, moving laterally. As everyone held hteir breath, another crack appeared, just as a little tooth popped out. Contorting her face into disgst and fury, Axa screeched, and threw the egg onto the ground. Smashing on the ground, a tiny dragon slithered out, barely breathing. Screeching, Axa pulled away, then returned to try and step on the thing. The imp blocked her from doing so, resulting in a sharp pain to the side. Feeling the knife slide out, he called out as loud as he could.

""Guards! Anyone! Help!""

Slumping to the ground, his vision dulled as Axa screamed foul words into the air. A dark pearlcatcher walked up and picked up the thing from the egg, cradling it in her arms. She reached out and placed her palm on the imp's face, draining his life-force and channelling it into the thing. The imp's head slumped to the ground as the baby sucked in a rattly breath.

""Filth! Abomination! Evil! This mercenary sold me a rotten egg! Ursa!""

The pearlcatcher turned her head to look at the raging ridgeback, who spat in her face.

""Get that abomination out of my sight before I kill it! Put it out of it's misery, you shade-touched imbecile! Go!""

Ursa waved her hands and watched invisible thread sew Axa's mouth together as she screamed. blood appeared in the places her lips had been punctured, as she pulled at her mouth. Raising her hand to slap the pearlcatcher silly, Ursa clicked her fingers and disappeared.

Axa was a smart ridgeback. She'd figure out how to get herself out of that little garden curse.
Looking down at the squalling thing in front of her, Ursa sighed.
It certainly was an abomination. The poor thing looked like a fae had begun to form as a pearlcatcher, and gotten stuck halfway through. It was tiny, and flopped weakly, yet the bellow coming from its lungs was strong. Two of its legs swung limply, possibly from the drop, and shards cut its body. Lifting its tail, Ursa concluded it was a girl. Her blue eyes meant she was from water, but her egg was completely different. She had heard mention of a new, mutant breed, and their notoriety among the more traditional clans. Now one was lying in front of her, crying for food.

Crawling out of his cave in her house, Wari clutched his head and complained of the din. Sighting the child, he screeched, hiding behind a tottering stack of spells. Ursa quickly left before Wari began weaving the child into his doomsday speeches.

━━━━━━━━━━━━ 5 ━━━━━━━━━━━

It took hours, and the constant attention of the healers at their new location in the Tree, before the child's belly was full and she was gurgling happily. It took the bright idea of Blush, the Zookeeper, and his mention of milk before the child stopped crying. Now she lay there and stared at everybody as they crowded around her, ogling. Modremoth had exited quickly, disgusted by the slimy child, while Pyre repeatedly made offers to kill the thing. Ursa worried for the child's life, and knew she would be subjected to a life of abuse among the Tree Tribe. If she was to survive to adulthood, Ursa needed to adopt her and raise her as her own. Watching the child, Ursa thanked the healers for their efforts to help fix her broken bones, and clean the slime off her. The child couldn't stay there forever, though. already rumours were flying about the thing in the infirmary.

Ursa at least wasn't the only one to have fallen in love with her. Allegra and Melia had melted at the sight of her, and even though Endo and Voltair, the teachers, had wondered aloud at the intelligence of the child, even they stuck around and tickled her until she chirped. Visitors came all throughout the day, even if just to sight the child. Despite their own opinions about the child, every visitor agreed- she couldn't stay. Her stumpy legs meant she wouldn't be a capable runner or limber. She barely seemed dexterous enough to make anything, and Pyre had rejected her from the start. She'd never be a fighter.

It was hard to accept, but it was needed. The child would be a permanent resident of the swamp, one of the first to be raised from infancy among one of the deadliest areas of the Shrieking Wilds. Raising her head defiantly, Ursa thanked everyone for their input, bowed to the healers, and left with the child curled up in the crook of her arm.

The poor thing will have to live with hate for the rest of her life. Thinking back to Endo's whispered remark, she prayed the child will not be intelligent enough to recognise the pain.

The poor child will live her life as a pet Bogsneak, nothing more.
