Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this walking pumpkin pie wandered a little too far from his home lair (268347 , CuriousLoli), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

A true child of the fall, Autumn had always been captivated by the changing leaves and the chill in the air. So much so, he failed to notice the change in his surroundings as he chased a particularly bright leaf through the depths of the Driftwood Drag. What was once the dark comfort of home changed into a new curiosity. Beautiful places he had never even dreamed of before, and while most would become fearful at this sudden change and the realization that they were truly lost, Autumn could do nothing but feel a happiness and surge of energy from the promise of an adventure to come.

~~~
He came to Clan Phoenixflight where he learned many stories, some that he could only dream of; a whole clan traveling to Dragonhome, staying for 6 months, then traveling all the way back to the Scarred Wasteland? He was interested in learning about this clan, although he was wanting to adventure more. He had been asked by Moonshine to help take care of the hatchlings, Autumn was lonely and wanted to travel with someone but many of the female he asked were already mated with other males.
After awhile the leader came to him and asked him to move on even if he didn't choose a mate yet he knew that he would have to choose one soon or continue on and wait until he got home to be with a female. He wanted either a spiral female or a snapper female as his mate.
Eventually they let him stay, and he began to look for a mate; alas, he had no luck.
~~~

Autumn finally decided to move on from the Plague lands and look for a new clan to house him; he had grown tired of the fleshy, writhing environment, and a distinct lack of healthy plant-life (or even discernible seasons!) wasn't what he was looking for on his adventure. However, he still felt very defeated in not meeting a suitable mate for himself in the previous clan. Adventuring all on his own had started to become fairly lonesome, and he would love to have a special somebody to share his experiences and gorgeous sights with!

It wasn't long after settling down in a Light clan, however, that Autumn met the girl of his dreams. She was a Skydancer of the same caramel colouring that he was, with warmth in her smile and the faint smell of cinnamon on her feathers. He was head over heels in love with her, and was ecstatic to find out that she wasn't a permanent resident of the lair; she had simply been passing through, and was soon preparing to leave. When he asked her if she'd leave with him, she happily agreed.

~~~
Autumn had always been weak for spirals and snappers. He knew that. Yet, when he came to the Shadowborns' Clan, he found himself totally in love with Siera. She was kind, brave and an outstanding warrior. And she seemed to share his feelings.
Siera was honest with him, and told him that she had wanted a nest for very long. The thought of hatchlings made Autumn very happy, an eventually, they had two daughters - Fia and Fiona.
But, something didn't go just right. One morning, the two hatchlings casually walked out of the cave - and were never found again. No matter where or how much the whole clan searched for them, they couldn't be found.
After the loss of their daughters, their feelings towards eachother had changed. Their relationship had been all about their hatchlings, and now that they were gone... Even Autumn's romantic feelings towards CinnamonBun had changed. Despite this, he enjoyed her company. Something about her made him calm and happier.
Autumn felt that staying with the Shadowborns' would only make it worse, so he decided to leave and continue his traveling, pretending that nothing had ever happened.
But deep inside, he felt lonelier and sadder than ever. (Eventually, one of the hatchlings would find her way back to her birth clan, but by then, Autumn was already long gone).
Would he be able to find a mate in the next clan he visited?
~~~

In the wind territory Autumn was welcomed by the Silverspray Clan, where he made many friends and really enjoyed his stay. He especially toke a liking to hanging around with Waveglint, Summerbreeze and Borealis - they used to tour around a lot just to discover new and beautiful things eventually.
Clan Silversprays Dragons were used to spend some days on duty - procuring food, teaching the young ones and helping the clan run smoothly in any way - and days off duty, where they were free to do what they personally wanted to. So no one bothered that they spent their days off stolling around the lair like hatchlings.

Ah, and the dragons of Clan Silverspray were all beautiful as differently coloured glass shards! Although Borealis appearance wasnt really standing out among her Clan members, Autumn found himself comparing her with the most impressive dragons he saw - always ending the comparsion somehow in her favour. Her wings shimmered turqoise like the deep, clear water of an ocean bay. To him, she had the most comforting voice and her laughter was totally contagious. While it wasnt love on first sight, they both grew closer to each other with every day they spent together. They shared so many similaritys and wonderful days. And they cringed with laughter at the sight of summerbreeze's jaw falling down whe they told him that Borealis had laid some eggs.

But the situation soon brought back memories and Autumn suddenly fell silent and worried. It took Borealis days to make him finally speak about what had happened to his last hatchlings.
'It sure is sad, and i wouldnt worry less if my hatchlings were to vanish like that. You cant change it, but you cant say if they're eventually okay either. Its not much better once they grow up and decide to leave the clan on their own, believe me. As their parent you will keep worrying a little for the rest of your life, so the best you can do to bear with that constant worry is hoping the best for them with all your heart.'
What she said felt somehow right, and still it could not erase the feeling that he had failed to guard them. Luckily, this time he was able to watch his hatchlings grow up peacefully (as peacefully as hatchlings can be, of course). They were so unbelievable cute, all three, but eventually they grew up and finally, one after another, decided to leave the clan and see the world out there with their own eyes.

The time when he and Boralis watched the last of them leave, Autumn started to wish he could travel again as well. It was in the midst of fall and red and yellow leafes where whirling through the air, in an aimless hurry to vanish at any horizon they could possibly reach with the winds help.
When he told Borealis that he wished to travel again, she seemed to be really torn between him and her clan. She coudnt decide for a long time if she wanted to join him or stay behind.
In the end, she said that maybe she would follow him later, but none of them really believed that would happen. And of course, Autumn would always be welcome back in case he felt like not traveling for a while....

And then they parted with one longlasting headnudge.
Autumn spread his wings and was heading to unknown lands once more.

~~~
As the gold and brown leaves fell from the trees of the Tangled Wood and Sunbeam Ruins, and were carried into the sea, so did Autumn find himself pulled towards the water. What he had planned as a simple fly-by, as he winged towards higher - or drier - ground, got complicated when he was mistaken for a spy by dragons patrolling the swathe of sea under the control of Clan Sigma, and brought in for interrogation. One moment, he was flying over the beach, the next, he was all but abducted and pulled below the waves.
His captors explained that they had received a grave premonition, of a dangerous stranger who meant harm for them and their way of life. With few details to go on, thanks to the number of clashing reports, they had no choice but to view every dragon who strayed to close to their territory as a potential threat. Though they treated him with courtesy, more like a guest than a prisoner, the question of him leaving was continually postponed, as the clan's prophets and diviners tried to get to the bottom of this dire warning.
During his captivity, Autumn was taken under the wing of the clan's oldest dragon, Quainu, the leader of the mages. With an affinity for the fall, Quainu felt a kinship with the younger dragon, and though he couldn't heed his requests to see the surface again, he brought leaves and branches to help decorate the caverns Autumn was staying in. As their relationship progressed from uneasy jailer and unwilling prisoner to something more like friendship, Quainu began to teach Autumn magic, showing him how to channel the energy of the season, as nature itself seemed to pull in, to prepare to the harshness of winter. Though still less than thrilled with his circumstances, Autumn took to these lessons, and experimented with applying his new knowledge of nature magic to his innate shadow abilities.
After a month with the clan, with the furor over his arrival and the prophecies that preceded it no more settled, the clan's leader stepped in, claiming that he had seen that Autumn was no threat to them. Suddenly and simply, Autumn was free to go, as the rest of the clan resumed their search for the real menace to their kind. He remained for a few more days, to wrap up his lessons now that he had the choice to do so, but it wasn't long before he continued his journey, unwilling to give Clan Sigma too much time to think better of releasing him.
