Somber and reserved, this guardian seems to prefer keeping his distance rather than engaging the crowd. Respectful to a fault, even the meanest pedestrian is given full courtesy, though most seem to move on quickly after a moment's conversation.

Probably has something to do with that long face. Fella looks like he's just been to somebody's funeral.

==========

All across Sornieth, creatures have a nasty habit of refusing to stay down. Whether raised through necromantic means or simply by virtue of being just a tad too stubborn, Istalre takes it upon himself to help the undead enter their final rest. Sometimes it's just a lost soul who needs to find their way home before being given their last rites. If only that was the case more often, as uprooting cabals of graverobbing ne'er-do-wells is tiring work, to say nothing of putting down the unfortunate hazard of imperial families who stick together through thick and thin. (Of course, a comrade knows to ask for help when the job's large enough.)

With a nigh-endless crusade ahead of him, Istalre tends to come off as very all-work and no-play, leaving little room for socializing or unwinding. Impressive, perhaps, but unapproachable. You'd never know that he moonlights as a freelance author, ghost-writing for many dragons who consider themselves important enough to need a biography. Luckily, those dragons also tend to not proofread the writing too clearly, as Istalre has a habit of injecting the stories with more than a little sardonic wit.
