Biography
THE COURT OF THORNS
━ CAVERNS BENEATH THE RUIN ━ Tecenā's experimentation with magic as a child is what caught the attention of the dark fey. Her spell managed to transport her into the hidden realm, which is where Unuathe found her. She was raised within the realm by the king - who by all rights was intrigued with a species of dragon that felt unnervingly similar to the fey - and was the first Veilspun granted a place in the Court. In exchange for protection, Tecenā was tasked as being the eyes and ears of the fey outside of the realm. This duty is not hers alone, but is expected of all other Veilspun residing in the Court. Tecenā holds a precariously high position within the Court, for she wields a magic that nearly rivals that of Tyasathe and Unuathe. She remains in their good graces by acting as an extremely loyal doorkeeper to the magic archway that allows members of the Court to travel Sornieth and beyond. While her magic is not strong enough to open the passage to the hidden realm of the royal family, Tecenā is more than capable of opening portals from the Viridian Labyrinth to the Southern Icefields. At present, though, the only door opened with any regularity is the one in the depths of the Hewn City as Kheimon travels back and forth from the Court.

The dark fey paused mid-step, his hunt in the mire interrupted by a strange sensation of magic oozing upward from the ground. As Unuathe worked to locate to source, he noticed the soil push up as if trying to form a bubble before the dirt crumbled away to reveal a small portion of a face, tongue flicking in and out as she watched him. Small as she may be, Unuathe frowned. Dragons should not be able to find their way through the Door and its borders. Not as effortlessly as she made it seem. If anything, the hatchling didn’t seem aware of what she’d done, gazing up at him with somewhat vacant eyes… His gaze drifted across the area, snapping back to focus on her as he realized something. “…Little Doorbreaker, you precious thing. That must have been exhausting, traveling as you did,” his voice all but dripped with faked sweetness as he knelt next to her, coaxing the youngling out from the muck with gentle pats and words. “I’ll keep you safe, don’t you worry. No one needs to know what you’ve done…” Unuathe cradled her into his arms before standing. “A clever little thing like you needs proper direction to reach your vast potential… Little Doors should not be forming on their own.” Perhaps she sensed the meaning behind his words, perhaps it was the way his fingers dug into her hide, as if afraid she’d vanish into thin air. Whatever it was, the magic that had been oozing from her core retreated with a near audible crack, leaving the mire suddenly empty as her magic whisked them into the void. |
