Kokoro

Kokoro stumbled over the icy path. He needed to find some shelter for the night, if he lost his strength then he couldn't continue traveling the next morning, which could not happen. He would surely starve to death. Finally, though, he found a large cave and slumped down onto the floor, falling asleep instantly.

When he woke up the next morning he saw three very small tundras staring at him. He shifted to look at them, still too weak to stand up, and they backed off a little.
"Yes?" Kokoro asked. The largest one came forward, and after hesitating a bit, he spoke.
"Is it all right if we stay here? There are no other caves for miles across, and we haven't slept for quite a long time." Kokoro smiled, this cave seemed to be attracting outcasts by the second.
"Of course, I am only borrowing this cave as well." The band of tundras looked releived and found a place further into the cave, where they curled up in a heap. Kokoro looked outside of his rocky shelter, and found the place that was dreary and dark the night before, had blossomed into a beautiful landscape, the grass still glistening with snow and shining in the sun. After days of befriending the newcomers to the cave, and them helping each other recover, it had become home.

Over the years, more and more outcasts came to hide from the snow, and ended up staying for a long time, if not their entire lives. Early on, Kokoro was voted the leader of the den, though other heads of the den were voted in as well. And over time, the once large and empty cave became filled with noise and many dragons, all having been able to settle down and find a place that was sheltered from the problems of the outside world.
