Goldlust is an affliction that has long puzzled the scholars of Sornieth. Though all dragons are inherently hoarders, those suffering from goldlust become increasingly aggressive and single-minded, attacking even friends or family whom they perceive as threatening their hoard. It is unclear whether it is a malady of mind or magic. In some cases, it appears as an isolated incident, affecting just an individual; other times, it has been known to infect entire clans. There is no known cure. Bhaskara has devoted his life to the study of goldlust, ever since his oldest brother developed it and had to be put down for the safety of his birth clan. He was one of the few able to get through to his brother for a short time, and it gave Bhaskara the idea to do what no scholar of goldlust has dared: interact directly with afflicted dragons. |

Though he has adopted Serenity as something of a home base, much of Bhaskara’s time is spent travelling Sornieth, scouring the world’s arcane literature for clues. His familiar, Diviner, helps him seek out magical abnormalities, and he keeps thorough records on every case of goldlust he comes across. |

It's not quite accurate to say that Diviner is a living being, though it's not quite accurate to say that she isn't, either. She is wholly arcane, and an invaluable partner in Bhaskara's studies. |

Taoshi was enlisted by Bhaskara's husband to serve as a bodyguard, particularly when he meets with dangerous afflicted dragons. Bhaskara was resistant at first, but he and Taoshi share a dry sense of humour, and he grudgingly admits that she handles his case studies well. |

Bhaskara and Thalyssra bonded over a shared appreciation for scholarship and the arcane. He admires her dedication and the focus of her research, though he finds her interest in his own work somewhat unnerving, and is careful that she never comes across one of his case studies. |
