Biography

OC dragon of my Starbound character, Cal!!

Cal, my character in Starbound, is a Novakid. To start off, Cal is a very headstrong and determined being. She’s quick to voice her opinion and stick to it no matter how blunt it may seem. Honesty and loyalty are very important to her, but because of her somewhat hot-headed nature, she’s more inclined to do things alone so she doesn’t upset anyone with her short fuse. Underneath her cold shell and hot defenses lies a very loving and caring soul that’d throw herself into danger to save the ones she loves. Get close enough to her and she’s likely to open up about everything to you as trust plays an important role in the friendships she holds. It goes without saying that she has the demeanor of an introvert around strangers (but how much of a chatty extrovert she is around friends and family). Don’t be fooled though; if she doesn’t know you and she’s talking up a storm, it’s almost guaranteed that she doesn’t want to be there any second longer than she has to.

Cal has a wide variety of things she likes but can be a bit picky on things as well. She loves spiders, cats, mythical stories, dragons, space, music, you name it! Most of her interests are very well-rounded. To put a focus on a few, she has a keen liking for technology, science, writing, and drawing and will definitely go on about her love for chemistry and fictional characters for hours. She also enjoys talking to and about her friends and family often. She has a knack for building things out of wood and dirt and taking naps in various places.

Cal is an all or nothing kind of girl. She hates stealing and thieves in general, but if she takes something, she'll either announce it or kill the people around to take EVERYTHING they owned, an example being the village that her and Rin pillaged to make their own home in. To put it short, she doesn't have good morals towards strangers. She's also not the kind of person someone would want to ignore. Because of her past, Cal has a very small tolerance level for manipulative tactics, so don't expect her to pay that person any attention until they decide to settle things. Other little things she dislikes are very messy rooms, cramped spaces, falling, parties, freezing climates, dependency, anticipation for things, and hinted secrets.

Her appearance is a lot to take in. Cal was made by the remains of a star that died long ago, so its fire is still burning around a fragment of that star that she keeps as her life source in her chest. Since it is a part of her, Cal's fire is tame, able to keep its heat away from objects she touches. Her armor is still designed to keep her flames in check in case she flares up in a bout of rage (it's also helpful to note that this fire keeps much of her natural light from spreading around the room. She appears bright, yes, but other than that, you won't be able to see the walls around her if she did walk into a pitch black room without her armor on). Going on about her looks, she has a large, black, stylized letter X that floats and burns in front of her face. It actually helps to sense her surroundings for her star fragment to process, but sometimes it goes haywire and gets colors completely wrong when she's too tired to feed her star fragment the energy it needs. Cal's star fragment gives the illusion of a typical human female's figure. This also means that any sexual parts to her are also an illusion, so she can't exactly breed with anything if she wanted to. She still has an interest in love and companionship, but it's definitely not an important thing to her when she has a bunch of other stuff to pay attention to. Coming back to the point, her colors are mostly orange, black, and blue. Much of the black and blue part of that come from her armor set that boosts her attack and defense immensely! Her stats will be discussed later on, but she finds them very impressive still after opening the door and defeating the ruins.

Now for the specifics. Her actual armor set is made up of a clockwork hat, clockwork jacket, clockwork trousers, and a legendary cooling epp with a damage III augment. For cosmetics, her armor set has a Valkyrie helm, valorous chestpiece, valorous greaves, and stargazer acolyte wings for backwear. All of this is for when she travels around, of course, because she has a different set of clothing for whenever she wants to watch TV in her ship or work on stuff in her home village. Her weapons were all collected from her travels across the galaxies. In order, they're set up like this: L - Bandages, R - Rope Whip. L - Teclacki Celestialblaster, R - Necrolix Celestialhowitzer. L - Graxus Terrahacker, R - Callox Atomicknife. Firestorm's Fury. The whip and bandages is her safety set, the next is her double pistol set, next is her double dagger set, and last but not least is her legendary sword which she has to hold in two hands to use. This makes her have a very wide range of attack styles but not much preparation for when she needs to stack dirt to get to places or place down torches around a cave. Misc weapons and gear that she keeps handy are her Magnorbs and her matter manipulator along with her three upgrades: Sonic Sphere, Sprint, and Pulse Jump. Her Magnorbs are mostly for show anyways, but other than that, she keeps a grappling hook, Relocator gun, red hoverbike controller, and blue flashlight in her inventory if she ever needs them. All of this leads to her stats that are very high for a cowgirl of the stars: 160 health, 80 defense, 598% increased attack, and 160 energy. Her pet Fennix that helps her fight chips in its own stats such as 37 attack, 80 defense, and an unknown amount of health from its hard capture on a dark planet along with a health II collar attached to it.

Her ship is a fully upgraded space train with plenty of crew members to keep her company! She sees all of these members as her friends despite doing some lowkey experiments on them here and there. What do you mean that avian didn't have an exact twin before? You must be forgetting things... Her closer and more recognizable friends are Vio the blue male novakid and Rin the black female glitch. Cal and Vio often hang out together in the room above her lab which has a nice couch, a TV, a fridge, and various other things that only she and him can get to. Because of Vio, Cal was able to get back on her feet after her introduction ceremony was attacked by the Ruins and she had to escape on the worn down ship she now sails across the stars with! Cal did the same thing for Rin when the Ruins repaired itself and Rin almost lost her matter manipulator during the chaos. Vio is often too busy building things to explore anymore, so most of Cal's time is spent with Rin currently. Cal is actually focusing a lot of her time building as well after Cal and Rin completely wiped out a Floran village to take over the buildings there. The village is located on Pulso Grasp IV, a dry grassland planet around the star in the Pulso Grasp System.

Cal doesn't really know how to dance. She sometimes suffers from panic attackS over little things which makes her puffed chest demeanor shatter instantly. Her theme song is A Part Of Me by Neck Deep, her voice sounds like Emily Browning in the song Where Is My Mind, and her singing voice sounds like Playing God by Paramore. She often plays Crawling In My Skin by Linkin Park on her acoustic guitar. Cal actually really likes singing and playing on her flute, but she doesn't do it outloud much because she doesn't want to embarrass herself. Rin really helps her get out of that shell though, so you can often hear the two playing songs in unison as they dance around without a care in the world.
