Biography
Stubborn to a fault, but caring and willing to help whenever possible.
Toby had thought he'd found a home on his journey to find his Guardian's destiny, but on one of his first battles, he suffered a harsh blow to his face and was left to fend for himself in the shrieking wilds. More confused and dismayed than frightened, he didn't fight when whisked away by several skydancers and brought to a wonderfully fragrant lair.
Oh, the scents of flowers fresh and drying, of carefully selected herbs used in potions and paints and essential oils. He knew he had been brought to the lush embrace of the Viridian Labyrinth, of the Nature domain; still he relaxed, as those around him seemed to be caring for him, rather than harming him.
Visits from multiple healers in the clan all proved fruitless as Toby's eyesight remained permanently damaged, leaving him completely blind. Though his biggest concern was that he'd never find what he was meant to guard without his sight, he trudged on with the aid of a curiously devoted Imperial who had been one of the many to fail in healing his eyes.
He learned to follow the sound of the many cloth wrappings on her limbs, and how to identify her scent apart from the others, as well as the many different herbs always enriching his senses. He learned how to trust those he could not see, to bond with those in a place he felt trapped in, held back from leaving by his disability.
With Era's help, he learned to fight again, using a staff as an extension of himself just as well in battle as he used it in probing areas outside of his new home's boundaries.
Dare he admit it to himself, he began to feel comfortable with his situation; in the lair and family that was chosen for him. At the side of the caring and at times overly eager Era. He had begun to feel whole. He had found his charge to protect. And he had fallen in love with her.
