Sascha has a creative mind and an eye for fashion. She is responsible for assigning clothing from the hoard to the Glass Shatter residents. She meets with each new dragon, getting a sense of their personality and appearance. She will then make sketches of the outfits she envisions for them. Some are elaborate and some are simple, depending on the individual dragon's tastes. She keeps a scroll case for each dragon in the lair, stuffed with sketches of the fabrics and pieces she wants to adorn them with. She works closely with Otrov, the resource rationer, to assign apparel to the clan residents.

Sascha is the daughter of Schatten, Ripto's first mate. She journeys to the Glass Shatter clan in search of her half brother, Nerve. Nerve doesn't know that he's related to Sascha. Bonds immediately with a hatchling named Strife that was born on the same day as her. Strife is the child of Ripto and Pitch. He's Nerve's half brother and unrelated to Sascha, though Sascha sees him as a relative, despite the tense family ties. Strife, though, is interested in her as more than a friend. When Strife grows into an adult, Sascha sees first hand the tyranny of her brother, Nerve. Nerve attempts to murder Strife, and it is only through Ripto's quick actions is Strife exalted to the Icewarden instead. Sascha is appalled at the resentment that Nerve has for his father and it breaks her heart to see Strife's life as a free dragon ended because of her brother's anger.

Her gold bracelets were a gift given to her by Enigma, a dragon from her birth clan. Her mother is Enigma's ward. Enigma is the one who told Sascha how to find the Glass Shatter clan. The daughter of Ripto and Pitch, Enigma was born in the Glass Shatter herself. She keeps her lineage a secret from Schatten to spare her feelings. Schatten is still piecing her life together from the pain of losing Ripto as a mate and the guilt of leaving her son, Nerve, behind when she began her new life.
