전쟁으로 인해 사랑스러운 연인을 잠시 떠나보낸 그녀는
매일같이 TV와 신문을 보며 그가 무사히 돌아오기만을 기도하고 기도하고 또 기도했다.
비록 답장은 돌아오지 않았지만 꼬박꼬박 편지를 쓰며 연인의 안녕을 기도했건만,
처음으로 그녀에게 돌아온 편지는 연인의 죽음을 통보하는 편지였다.
아아, 나에게 돌아오는 것은 이런 편지가 아니라 당신이었어야 했는데…
이게 사실일 리 없다며 그녀는 현실을 부정했다.
연인의 부고를 접한 날부터 차츰차츰 여위어 가던 그녀는 결국 병에 걸려 눈을 감았다.
죽음을 부정하고 부정하고 부정했던 그녀는
스스로의 죽음마저도 부정해 자신의 무덤을 파헤치고 나와 그를 찾아 헤매기 시작했다.
