Glass Hybrid Fragment Glow Mushroom Glass Beaker

Only a MINOR flying disaster.

A curious, but eccentric soul, Flamel loves exploring the world around him through experience, and moves about from one thing to another with a sense of awe and wonder. While the scholarly Amdir is driven to such pursuits by knowledge and truth, and the diligent Erasmus by determination to excel and succeed, Flamel is driven largely by his own self-interests and curiosity. His interests vary, and as quickly as he may throw himself into a project and absorb large quantities of information, he can suddenly shift his energies away from exploring a subject, chasing after a newer, more exciting subject. Flamel's one true passion seems to lie in alchemy; the young Fae hovers around Baldwin's Calderon constantly, throwing in whatever he can find, curious to see how their magical properties will react, and what end-product will ultimately be formed. When he's not entranced by any particular project or subject, Flamel drifts about absentmindedly. In conversation, he may suddenly shift from one topic to another without a moment's warning, eager to explain something that'd suddenly caught his attention.

He's drawn to other Arcane dragons, though he's hesitant to describe why to non-Arcane dragons, muttering a flat "You wouldn't understand it," under his breath.

Flamel, Amdir, and Erasmus have an odd relationship. Some days, the three of them get together, each pursuing their own subject of interest, without a single problem; other days, the older two struggle to keep the younger, eccentric Fae in line.

~~~
He was fairly certain that someone had once told him how curiosity killed the cat as a means to quell his wandering, whimsical tendencies, but his response always seemed to be along the lines of "but satisfaction brought him back." Of his hatch-mates, he was the one who'd stray the farthest from the nest, who'd poke his head into every nook and cranny with a curious tilt of the head, a fanning of his crests. The world was so vast, there was so much to see, and he wanted to see and make sense of whatever he could. Often, whatever he could meant whatever was bright enough to catch his interest for more than a few seconds, but it worked, for the time being.
He supposed that was what led him to wander far beyond the nest this particular night. . . And by far beyond the nest, he meant completely away from the clan altogether. The Starwood Strand seemed so alive tonight, though, the way the flowers emerged from their sprawling branches to kiss the night sky with pale blue light. They shared a common trait, after all; bio-luminescence that was partially the result of science, and partially of magical energies that filled the region. He fluttered clumsily from one tree to the next, where he'd cling to the branches and observe the small flowers.
So entranced was he, that he neglected to notice the dark figure that trailed him until it snatched him up in its claws. He scarcely had time to gasp before he was face-to-face with his capturer, a Tengu whose eye twitched in a rather unsettling manner. The Corven let out a soft, keening coo, and hopped from one side to the other, and clacked its beak together a few times. He was tossed into the air, and struggled to spread his wings out fast enough to prevent himself from crashing painfully to the ground, with only partial success. The talons tapped along his back, and he was flipped over, his underbelly exposed.
He wondered briefly what death might feel like, before a blast of pink mass tore through the night, and struck the Tengu in the chest. With a startled cry, it was sent back, and the being scuttled away, back into the darkness. Weakly, he pushed himself upright, and stared in dazed confusion at the smoldering meteor that had since crashed to the ground, a small indent surrounding the chunk. It still glowed a vibrant pink, and the meteor itself seemed to have an odd, familiar shape to it, like a face that couldn't be placed. . . He inched closer and closer to the meteor, head tilted to the side, until, at last, he brushed against the rocky surface with a small hand.
He could have sworn he heard a pleased hum come from the meteor, at that.
~~~

He didn't remember falling asleep, or passing out, but he was dully aware of the fact that he was still lying on the ground, his body sore and battered, and that someone was watching him. Groggily, he tilted his head up, and his sight swam slightly at the sea of pale green that loomed over him. He made a soft sound, something like a hum, before two, large, hands(?) carefully scooped him up, and they were flying, flying from the now-seemingly dead forest, away from the warm energies of once-home. . .

~~~
Once he'd recovered, however, it was very difficult for his new family to keep him from getting lost on the wind currents in his haste to explore his suddenly-expanded world. Oh well, there was still much to discover, and this seemed like the best place to do just that!
(Inspired by this thread!)
Glowshrooms were quite an interesting spectacle to the curious soul. He'd been surprised to hear that the plant-eating dragons of the clan refused to ingest the fungi, with uncertain whispers over why exactly eating glowing food could only end terribly. As such, he felt that the best way to determine the reason they were afraid to eat the mushrooms, if there really was a reason at all, was to eat them himself. . . He's fairly certain it won't kill him. Maybe. . .
Amdir found him in the back of the lair, coiled into a small ball as his stomach felt like it burned with fire, and whisked him off to Binder without a second's hesitation. The agitated Spiral grumbled furiously as he ground up some antidote, of which he couldn't quite make out, with how the world seemed to spin around him, and something was pressed against his side. . .
When he awoke, Binder scolded and shouted at him for quite a while over the dangers of eating poisonous plants and fungi, especially given his small size. All he'd asked in return was what his cure had been. . .
Binder kicked him out of his den, after that.
