The first face she saw when she hatched was that of another hatchling. Another Bogsneak, like her, yellow eyes shining with interest, with love, with madness. Galatea wanted nothing to do with him, keeping far away from Pygmalion from then on. She took up training with Kristophsis, learning from Nur and Arthemis and enjoying their camaraderie. It was only when she started wanting more, considering gene and breed changes like Nur, that she started associating with Pygmalion again, though not by choice: whenever she went to Karou to discuss the changes she desired, they were already funded, the magicks Karou needed already available to her. Galatea had a benefactor, one whose help she had not asked for. She was grateful, though, and went to thank Pygmalion, talking with him while he brewed the materials he needed for his own changes and learning about him, about his life and his interests, as he also learned of hers. She still sees the same spark of madness in her eyes as she first saw, but Pygmalion seems to have tempered it, or so she hopes. Regardless, getting him away from the cauldron and into training instead seems to have mellowed him, or at least given him an outlet for some of his more dangerous tendencies. They now guard the gates of the Brightclaw together when Pygmalion doesn't have to brew things for the clan, and that time spent together seems to strengthen their bond as mate, keeping them together despite their differences. At least, she thinks it brings them closer; then again, it's almost impossible to tell with Pygmalion. One minute he's there, the next his eyes are somewhere far away. It's a dangerous look, and Galatea doesn't fear much in life but that. |
