A small beam of sunlight filters through the den's walls, casting a dim light through the lair built into a nest of brambles. Hunched in an awkward position, Crayola scribbles across a blank parchment with an ink-tipped quill. Even as her name is called, she doesn't look up.

It isn't until her name is spoken from within inches of her does she react. A high-pitched squeal leaves her and she whirls around, eyes wide and mouth open in a halfhearted attempt at looking frightening. As she realizes she isn't under attack, her feathered crest flattens and her muscles relax.

Her voice trills between words and song, unaware of any grating tones. "♪ please ♫ ♪ easy scare. ♩ ♫ Can do?"

She glances at the parchment she was writing on and quickly ferrets it away, hiding it from sight. After hastily shoving it away into a cubby, she skitters off to find Blitzshadow so that he might assist the dragon that came to visit.[

HISTORY

Crayola and Blitzshadow were born of different shadow clans and were brought together by luck or fate or coincidence. He was a warrior in-training and had lived in that particular clan for longer than Crayola. She was new to the Clan, and they never really interacted much until one day when she was watching him train with some of the others. She wanted to see different fighting styles and training regimens so that she might improve some fiction she was working on.

Blitzshadow and the other with him noticed her and began showing off, roughhousing and engrossing themselves into their training. One thing led to another and Blitzshadow was injured in the exciting training. Crayola volunteered to walk him to the healer, feeling a smidge responsible. On the way, they got to talking and found they had a lot in common, forging an instant bond.

Soon they were inseparable, deciding to move to Arcane where they recruited other dragons and tried their hand and having their own Clan.

It wasn't meant to be, though. A powerful storm ravaged their territory, destroying many of the structures and taking the lives of most of their clanmates. Crayola was injured, but Blitzshadow had managed to hunker down and protect their den well enough that they lived through it.

Devastated, they had no choice but to leave Arcane territory and begin anew. Blitzshadow did the best he could as the one in charge, rallying the survivors that wished to stay with them. After a vote, the majority ruled they would move to Nature, where life was so vibrant and plentiful. Vanadevi and Vanaspati offered them refuge and eventually invited them to stay in their village, offering them work as part of the council.

They were happy there for a long time. However, as the Gardens began to grow too crowded, things started to grow tense within the clan. Blitzshadow and Crayola once again rounded up anyone who would come with and left in order to stop the infighting. They decided to go to the Tangled Wood and start anew with their few close friends.

After having two Clans under their belt and all of Crayola's chronicling, they think that this time they'll be able to make it work. They've aspired to running a resort in Shadow, where she is technically upper management, but really she just checks in guests and is basically customer service.

PERSONALITY

She's always been a bit of a loner. As a young dragon, she often played by herself or with the clan's familiars and wild animals found on the edges of the territory. She made up games and was capable of entertaining herself for hours. If needed to, she was capable of joining the others in her age group in play but was content by herself more so. Even as an adult she is happy to sit by herself or enjoy the company of Blitzshadow and no one else, but thankfully Blitzshadow often makes her socialize with his friends.

At least the friends she does have understand her need for alone time and don't press her to spend more time with them than she wants.

Crayola can be curious and adventurous but shows no interest in becoming a warrior or adventurer, instead content to romanticize and write about it instead of experience it herself. In fact, she tends to hate the times when she's forced to leave their territory, wanting nothing more than to stay within its borders for her entire life. If she does have to leave, she tends to make Blitzshadow escort her and offer support.

Crayola can be an awkward thing, due in part to her half-fluent way of speaking, and also in part because of her strange quirks. Spending so much time alone left her socially inept, but functional, and she's adept at pretending to know what she's doing. She strives for acceptance among whoever she's with, eager to please.

Crayola can be pretty shy and dependent when it comes right down to it, though. If she needs to be independent and strong, she can pull it out, but she prefers letting Blitzshadow handle most of the conflict directed at her. When faced with someone who doesn't like her, she reverts to placating and apologizing, doing whatever she can to make them happy and keep from them from being irked at her. It usually works, but she does a much better job at just making sure no one is ever mad at her.

She has horrible emotional ups and downs. For a few days she could be happy as a clam, vibrant and full of energy, and then crash and mope for days on end. Though she's easy to please, she is also easy to upset.
