Rhysenn: The One Who Deals In Dreams and Secrets

______ Rhysenn hatched into homelessness, not much came his way, so whatever he needed he learned to steal and guard viciously. As a hatchling he became an excellent pickpocket, often stealing right out from under the noses of unsuspecting tourists and inattentive shopkeeps. Never one for conning, his work was either done under a cloak to hide his features or the cover of night, when his deep purple-black scales concealed him better from any unsuspecting victims. As he grew older he fell into a group of dream dealers, learning the tricks and tools of the trade to alter both the waking and sleeping hours of clients.

______ While he learned in his unofficial apprenticeship, he learned about herbology, psychology, magic, medicine, and the value of learning to read anybody he came across. He always had a knack for telling what others wanted of him, but a skill like that needed to be honed. His teachers would show him to read even the most inscrutable face, and then use it to his advantage. Whether it was someone concealing fear of their night terrors under a stony mask or someone disillusioned with the world and wanting to hide for a while, Rhysenn learned the art of honeyed words and sweetened promises. His tinctures provided some measure of relief from the strifes his clients faced, regardless of what it was they feared, and in return he was paid handsomely, discreetly. As he got older he became more popular among the clients of the dream dealers, since they could confide in him and he would soothe their worst fears with a simple mixture of herbs and magic. But eventually simply hearing errant worries and nightmares stopped being enough for him. The bigger the secret the bigger his paycheck, and he wanted to earn mountains of gold.

______ As such, he began to subtly request secrets, offering reduced prices for his most expensive potions and mixtures so that his clients would receive the ultimate service in exchange for their deepest darkest secrets. It wasn’t just their own secrets he wanted to learn, but those of the nobility and royalty, for if he could get in with them, he would be set for life. Some secrets only earned a price drop of a few coppers, while others convinced him to give away his products for free. Secrets gave him ways to move more freely, ways to suggest to minor nobility that they should listen to someone who knows things that are kept in the dark. It wasn’t difficult to convince them of that, after all who can ignore a dragon who looks like shadows himself? His dark scales and violet cloak looked as though they had been cut from the dark moonless nights. To the more superstitious folk, one would think that he was born from the secrets people kept, hence why he knows so much. He never would confirm or deny anything, preferring to leave the extent of his knowledge, or even the lack thereof, a secret.

______ His travels took him many places across Sorneith, eventually landing him in the Mirrored Universe, a place so close to a fold in reality that gladly bends the rules of physics to suit its own needs. The Tangled Wood was already treacherous for dragons not hatched within its obscure realm, but returning to such a bizarre area of his homeland threw even the unshakeable Rhysenn for a loop. On his travels to The Mirror Universe, he unknowingly acquired an enchanted map. His belongings became catalogued in it and he wound up following it to meet some rather interesting strangers. Supposedly it is time to play a game, one that will have greater battles, riddles, and prizes that are beyond his wildest imaginings. Only one question remains for Rhysenn: will he play?
