"Water. Powerful enough to drown you. Deep enough to save you."

The glow of the egg had almost faded out. After three days in the murky waters, the unhatched dragon should've died. The cold of the river was a life-killer, especially so for eggs of the Ashfall Waste.

But this egg still carried a dim amber glow as it bobbed gently through the dark waters, radiating a stubborn warmth that flared up even as it was extinguished. A toss of the waves and it was thrown from the river to roll lopsidedly through the seaweed-woven banks. A soft thunk sounded as the egg came to a rest before a rough hewn cauldron.

Presently a Nocturne dragon approached the cauldron, murmuring chants under his breath as he tossed ingredients, almost carelessly, into the pot. He began to stir it, but paused. The flicker of the egg had caught his attention, and it was safe to say that being at the center of his attention was possibly the worst place in Sorneith to be.

This dragon was known as Tezcatlipoca, either a brilliant researcher or a mad scientist, though his clanmates would often mutter that he was both. Tezcatlipoca, being the scientist, simply had to test out his new brew. On what? Well, there was the egg, placed rather conveniently. Without a second thought Tezcatlipoca upended a flask of the bubbling potion over the egg and watched as it change.

The change was not instantaneous. First the glowing lines of lava turned a sickly green. Then the rocky shell began to melt into slime. Over the course of a few hours the egg had changed from a small, smooth shape to a bulky one.

Tezcatlipoca circled the egg for some time, trying to detect any signs of life. There was none, but that did not necessarily mean the dragon within it was dead. The only thing he was sure of is that the potion had changed the dragon within. Eager to know, reluctant to stay, the Nocturne alchemist brought the egg to his clan, where it was nurtured and hatched.

When Sobek was born, he was unlike any dragon before him, though whether this was so because of his appearance or his unshakable loyalty to Tezcatlipoca remains a matter of opinion. Some say his loyalty was an interesting side effect of Tezcatlipoca's potion, while others say that it's because Tezcatlipoca was the one who saved him from the predicament of hatching on his own. While his clanmates may never know, what they do know is that Sobek won't be the one to tell them. He ignores all rumors and questions and obey Tezcatlipoca quietly, collecting ingredients for the Nocturne without fail, and doing everything he can to get at them.

Though his amber eyes and heritage put up a strong protest, Sobek has a natural water manipulator, and perhaps water dweller as well. Often times dragons frisking around on the banks of a river would be suddenly and quite rudely interrupted by Sobek surfacing. Though Sobek probably doesn't mean any harm, it's quite terrifying to see a gargantuan shape rising out of the water at any time. On several occasions Sobek has been known to redirect the course of a certain river to prevent floods or create them; to give life or take it.

Sobek does his own things quietly. Though at first glance he may seem the placid kind, Sobek has surprising strength for his demeanor. He has been known to dig trenches all on his own and carry multiple injured clanmates back to the clan -- all without breaking a sweat. Though one must admit: it's sort of hard trying to see whether someone's sweating or not if they're constantly covered in a layer of water!
