Biography
Strategist, Valkyrie's Consort - House Bittergulf
|
Zinnaerris grew up on the coast. His childhood was spent chasing the seafoam with his older brother, Arwel. Soon, though, his brother left to the Behemoth, where he would work on a genetic project with his new mate. Zinnaerris, left behind, debated which path his life should take. He had always been indecisive, but the fear of choosing incorrectly paralyzed him. Eventually, his mother grew tired of his endless ambivalence and sent him to the Sunbeam Ruins, where he engrossed himself in the ancient scrolls that detailed old war strategies and tactics. Yet mere scrolls could never hold his attention for too long. Every day, he would sit for hours, poring over ancient texts. But inevitably - and often before lunchtime - he would grow bored of his pursuit and talk to the old librarians that presided over the scrolls he tried so hard to learn from. Before long, he was close with almost every scholar in the Sunbeam Ruins. He found it much easier to learn the obscure topics when they were explained verbally to him, anyway. After a year or so, he deemed it time to move on from the Ruins. He fled to the realm of the Stormcatcher, intent on seeking more than just knowledge in its purest form. He wanted to use the immense knowledge he now had, and he found such an opportunity at Clan Saibhreas. Here, he could discuss ancient texts with any of the other dragons, as learned as they all were, or just explore the interesting landscape for days on end. No one attempted to make him do anything he didn't want to, and that made the indecisive Zinnaerris realize what he wanted to do: he wanted to aid Clan Saibhreas in their diplomatic mission - to prevent war in the surrounding clans and to keep the peace as much as possible in the Shifting Expanse. His job was essentially to travel to nearby clans and negotiate between them when necessary. He also intervened when things got... messy. He met his mate, Nainsi, on one such messy voyage. He fell in love with her when he saw her rip a Mirror in two with her bare paws, but it took him a while to earn her trust and admiration. Zinnaerris didn't mind, though. He's always loved a challenge. Zinn has always prided himself on his sharp mind and even sharper tongue, but recently both have been failing him. He can't remember where he stashed Arwel's letters to him, can't remember what his address is, can only faintly remember what he looks like. He recalls his mother laughing with his family about how identical they look, but he just cannot be sure if Arwel had these sparkling Runes all over his body. He seems to remember a sunshine yellow belly running in the family, but that can't be right. The Runes are the truth, the Runes are the version of himself that is worth remembering. The Runes... he can't think of much beside the shapes that glow on his flanks and wings. He swears they've never ever changed before, but he's starting to notice them moving and shifting now. But he mustn't be so selfish. The dragon he loves, the fierce Valkyrie of House Bittergulf, the being who shares his fascination and appreciation for the markings they share... she's sleepwalking and steadily growing more unsettled. He has to reassure her! Nainsi is more important than his silly memory problems right now. All that matters is that the House of Runes -- House Bittergulf, he means -- be preserved for all eternity.
