______ Arpien erämaan varainhaltijoina toimi Nureba ja Nadeshiko. Näille syntyi hyvin myöhäisellä iällä poika nimeltä Macaretto, jota nämä hemmottelivat minkä saattoivat. Vaikka Macarettosta oli määrä tulla seuraava Erämaan varainhaltija, tätä ei koskaan pakotettu noudattamaan määrättyä protokollaa. Kuitenkin, vanhemmat olivat siitä yksimielisiä, että jos poika tahtoi jotain, oli tämän myös ansaittava se. Siksi hyvin vaivihkaa Macaretto oppi tulevan varainhaltijan tavoille.



______ Macaretto vieraili usein muissa erämaan klaaneissa. Erityisen paljon tämä vietti nuorella iällään aikaa Triangulumin mailla, koska näillä oli eniten koko erämaassa familiareita, lohikäärmeiden pikkukumppaneita, joita Macaretto rakasti. Näillä ei kotona ollut yhtäkään lemmikkieläintä, joten toisen klaanin familiarit saivat lohikäärmeeltä paljon huomiota ja usein tämä osoitti sen ostamalla vanhempien huomaamatta niille läjäpäin herkkuja.



______ Sama rakkaus eläimiin johdatti Macaretton ja Umbranoelin yhteen. Nämä tapasivat ensimmäisen kerran, kun Umbranoel oli leikkinyt Lordi Machaon Eternityn kanssa, kun yksisarvinen oli äkkiä päässyt tältä karkuun. Tyttö ei ollut uskaltanut palata kotiin ilman taruolentoa, joten tämän etsinnät olivat laajentuneet aina erämaahan saakka. Monien hurjien ja vähältä piti - tilanteiden jälkeen tyttö vihdoin löysi yksisarvisen Iankaikkisesta kalmistosta odottamassa tyynesti Macaretton viereltä.
