Biography
| When the world was still new, before there were wars and vying for power, before there were those that were swayed by jealousy and the need for material possessions, there was nature at its purest. A balance of life and death, a cycle of growth and decay and rebirth, nature embodied all of life, all of the cycles of predator and prey, eat or be eaten, survival of the fittest and the ability to nurture young. From this seed of life did she grow. She knew she was born; her parents were a Tree Spirit and a Grove Tender, honorable and understanding of what she was. She was given a name, though it seemed to change depending on who was speaking to her. Known by Kynareth to some, Medeina to others, Gaia or Artemis or even seen as nature incarnate, the spiral nevertheless knew when she was called. It was in her nature to know. |
It was beautiful. To those that lived there, the kites and colors of the Cloudsong were an everyday pleasantry, a way to make a clan stand out and to celebrate the Windsinger. To one who had lived so long in the lushness of the Veridian, however, the colors and movement was an amazing sight. The giant balloons that held the platforms aloft were dyed and sewn with clan logos, tributes to the Windsinger, and all things that brought the Wind flight joy. The sight of giant snappers, normally unable to fly, making their way along the platforms was an eye opener, and watching hatchlings leap from area to area without a care just made her heart soar more. Without realizing it, she began to fly along with the movement of the balloons, dancing to the wind and feeling like she was somewhere she belonged for the first time in a while. Here was the freedom for her to be herself, the freedom to nurture the new and mourn the old and expand the cycle of life. She could almost dance from the sheer joy of it. |

When Canth was informed that someone was tampering with the food stores, he immediately went to investigate. What he found was a female spiral surrounded by pots of food, carefully placing a seed into another pot and humming a bit. For a moment, he was shocked into silence. Work that would have taken his clan members weeks had been done in one day. Not only were the plants all potted, but it seemed she had the ability to coax them into growing enough that they had caught up with the correct time in the growing season. Not sure what to say, he watched her for a moment. Without warning, the spiral turned her head enough to study him with one vibrant green eye. “As you wish, I’ll stay.” She murmured quietly, going back to tending the plants. Canth blinked slowly; he had not been meaning to ask her to stay, but now that she mentioned it, it would be beneficial to have someone who actually knew how to grow plants around when they were trying to grow plants. He rumbled something that approximated a thank you or maybe was just an acknowledgement, and Medeina’s place in the clan was secured.
| Most days, Gaia is out tending the garden area and soaking up the sunshine. Some of the clan have heard her speaking to the plants, though no one really understands what is being said. Kynareth also has the uncanny ability to look at someone and seem to know what they’re thinking, which has given the reputation of being a bit of a mystery. After all, a dragon that comes out of nowhere, claims the area as home, and can answer questions that have not been asked yet is usually labeled a dragon not to tangle with, in case she use her powers of mindreading to figure out everything you’ve ever done wrong (or so the hatchlings say). The adults understand that each lives life their own way, and take Aranyani’s oddities in stride. |
