Vivienne
Mercenary/Ex-Warlord
-Born in Light, but moved to Cassius's clan when she was very young. The two became inseparable. -She was trained to be a guard, but learned battle skills firsthand when the clan split up, Vivienne ending up on the opposite side as Cassius. It was well-known that they both had friends on the opposite sides, so their new clans attempted to use them to gain information. -While Cassius being tortured and brainwashed, Vivienne was being emotionally manipulated, placed in the emotionally abusive hands of her (parent?caregiver?). -Convinced that Cassius and his clan were evil, she fought with Cassius, and won. She sent him back to his clan, but left him alive. She wasn't afraid; she'd beaten him once, she could do it again. -For sparing his life, her clan cast her out, her caregiver screwing even more with her emotions in the process. She left to travel the world and redeem herself. -For years she traveled, becoming more ruthless and uncaring, using her training and sword to forge quite the large holding of land, and gained a huge reputation as a Warlord. -She wasn't the most brutal as far as Warlords go, she was ruthless to her enemies and those who stood in her way, but didn't keep slaves like a lot of her rivals did. All of her forces were consentually following her, loyal to her and only her. She definitely preferred it that way. Among those was Rhea, a dear friend who she had liberated from one of her rival Warlords when she took him down. Also Sekhemet, who, while much more distant than Rhea, was loyal and trusted. -She kept up this lifestyle for a long time, but was badly injured in a fight one day. Besides physical injury, her pearl cracked, and she lost quite a few memories because of it, her soul fractured. Her forces scattered in the fight, she retreated, and went into hiding in plain sight, settling down in a wind clan for a long while. -This clan was a noble and rich clan of pearlcatchers, she was pretty different from them, having grown up in relative poverty and of common blood. However, through outstanding battle prowess, she rose through the ranks quickly and became the warleader of the clan, gaining a large reputation stretching several flights. She of course, didn't share her Warlord roots. -Eventually, Vivienne was approached by a noble pearlcatcher, who asked her to train his daughter in the art of fighting. Her mother had been a guardian mercenary, and since she was his illegitimate child, he planned to send her off once she was fully trained, now that she was at maturity. -Vivienne agreed to train her. It paid well, and she didn't have much better to do, anyway. She was young, but she was accomplished. If Vivienne couldn't make Kelsus respectable, no one could. -Kelsus picked up swordplay surprisingly easily, Vivienne's ruthless tests and challenges being no match for her. -The two grew close, and eventually, when Vivienne decided it was time to leave, Kelsus left with her. -Traveled around Sornieth with Kelsus for a while, picked up Wynne the water sprite, made some friends. Kelsus and Vivienne become mates or near-mates at some point in this journey -Eventually, they reached Shadow. They ended up in a bad place, where the vines and thorns came to life, possessed by the shade. Vivienne was kidnapped, tortured, and killed, by her own former friend Cassius. She lost her arm in the fight. Kelsus found her, and, devastated, did all that and worse to her killer. Or rather, the dragon who she believed had been the killer. Cassius survived.
