"JIN!! What did you do this time?! It'd better not be more slargs! Xena is still trying to get the last batch out of her lair..."
A quick-witted and somewhat snarky young Pearlcatcher, who is infamous for her tendency to over-worry, as well as being the polar-opposite mate of Jin. Ondiel (occasionally called "Deedee" for short) came to the Radiant Hollow as a hatchling; an offering of friendship from the Passus Canorous, a fellow Light clan that Socrates considers an associate. Ondiel was raised personally by Socrates and Xena, and grew up with the two Tundras' sons, Cato and Ren. As a result, Ondiel sees them both as something akin to little brothers, and is very close to them both. As a hatchling, Ondiel was very attentive with her studies, and at times, would even catch Xena off-guard with her inquiries. Even when young, Ondiel showed a specific gift for numbers and geometric shapes. With seemingly no effort, she was able to calculate and recognize the patterns of the world around her, and applied these in her day-to-day activities. She quickly run recognition within the Hollow for her mathematical abilities, and when she came of age and was deemed educated enough, she made it her specialty, becoming the leading mathematics expert of the Radiant Hollow. Although one would think that Ondiel would spend most of her days cooped up in her den with her mathematical philosophies, Ondiel rejects this way of thinking, and often ventures outside the Hollow, observing the world around her, which doubled further as a patrol of the Hollow's boundaries. It was on one of these daily walks, however, that Ondiel came upon a strange and imposing Imperial in the heart of the Sundial Terrace. Curious and wary of the stranger, Ondiel watched silently from afar, observing the strange new dragon. The Imperial was on top of the great sundial, moving back and forth erratically, as if it was their first time seeing the ancient structure. Ondiel soon lost interest in this stranger, and was about to move on her way back home, when suddenly she noticed that the stranger had begun to pick at the old engravings of the sundial. Caught off guard by what she saw as a sabotage, Ondiel quickly sprung into action, rushing over to the sundial and calling out to the dragon. The so-called "assailant", as Ondiel saw them, stopped immediately in their tracks at Ondiel's command, and Ondiel was able to make out the face of what appeared to be a young female Imperial, with bright yellow eyes that indicated that she had been born in the Lightweaver's domain. "Why on earth would she try and tamper with the sundial?" Ondiel wondered, "Doesn't she know of it's important to the Ruins?". Attempting to scold the stranger, Ondiel soon found herself abruptly cut off, as the dragon unexpectedly jumped down from the dial, and (much to Ondiel's discomfort) closed in on Ondiel, eyeing her as if she was the first dragon the Imperial had ever seen. The stranger immediately introduced herself as Jin, and after hearing Ondiel's questioning of just what "Jin" thought she was doing to the sundial, Ondiel learned that Jin had come from the Hewn City, and that it was indeed her first time around the area; she had not known that the sundial was such an important treasure to the dragons of the terrace. Feeling a strange twinge of sympathy in her chest, Ondiel pardoned the dragon. Along with this, Ondiel also learned that Jin no longer had a home of her own since "escaping" the Hewn City. Although hesitant at first, the strange ache in Ondiel's chest compelled the normally overly-cautious Pearlcatcher to offer Jin shelter in the Radiant Hollow, if only for a little while. The Imperial was quick to take Ondiel up on that offer, still seemingly in awe of Ondiel's appearance (much to the latter's embarrassment). After explaining the situation to Socrates upon returning with Jin, the Imperial was accepted in the Hollow, and became the leading expert on alchemy. Ondiel and Jin soon became close, much to Ondiel's own surprise, and the Pearlcatcher soon found herself developing feelings for the other. Now, the two are mates, and when the two are not occupied with their respective studies, they often embark on walks throughout the Sundial Terrace together. Ondiel sees her entrance in the Radiant Hollow as the best thing that has yet to happen to her, and hopes to remain a dedicated, loyal, respected member until she is physically no longer able. Luckily, that day doesn't seem to be coming any time soon.
