An accident as a hatchling left Ukungu mute and nearly dead, but the clan took him in and Jenazah cared for him, and he has loyally followed her ever since, communicating via symbols scratched in the dirt that only they know the meaning of. He has relayed to Jenazah in this way that either he never felt the call to go on his Search, or it wasn't needed, because he'd already found her, and there was no worthier thing for him to protect than her. He is the only dragon she allows near her for extended periods of time, and her quarters down in the cool chambers of Ikposa's den are tailored to his size, not hers. They go almost everywhere together, one slight of build and bright colors against jet black, the other huge and pale, his hide marked with ashy grey lines and adorned with dark bird feathers.

Ukungu is Second Shaman by virtue of the fact that he knows all the rituals and rites from constantly shadowing Jenazah. Without the ability to speak, it would be difficult for him to do them properly on his own, but he can assist her without any guidance. Many carcasses from food and clan and Beastclan alike are too large for Jenazah to carry on her own, too, and he easily hauls them to the ritual site for her.

Only recently has he taken any real interest in reproducing, and logically it was with Jenazah. Their daughter is the clan's record-keeper and storyteller.
