He is just going wherever the wind takes him, making notes about the dragons he meets, landscapes he discovers, maybe drawing and painting beautiful sceneries, dragons and animals he comes across. Though his cartography and knowledge of places (landscape, weather) and indigenous life (dragons, beasts) do help the Defense Division, it doesn’t make him a part of it. He's just exploring the world, making a lot of friends (which greatly helps the merchants and the clan as a whole) and is expressing and soothing his creative and curious mind. Submits his cartography work to Cartographer/Librarian Alercyas when he comes home again. Alercyas is only interested in the maps and data for the maps itself, but Ryiyk sneaks in little doodles here and there. Those doodles refer to pictures he drew and pages of his journal. He sometimes submits his artwork to the artists to show off/get compliments or to hang some of his artwork there (walls etc.). The motives, colors or patterns can inspire other creative workers as well, which is why Tailors, Potters, Jewelers and Performers, even Gardeners come by to take a look at them. (Most things are kept in his and Ihrhyala’s home though.)
