Sugar is the clan's alchemist, he specializes in brews, potions and especially perfumes. The latter being what earned him his reputation and is his primary source of income. Sugar also brews a variety of specialty drinks that he markets through Pashek’s tavern.

Bold in color and personality Sugar doesn’t hesitate to push his ideas or products and even if they turn out to be failures he’s rarely discouraged. His wit and charisma makes him fun to work with even if the task is tedious or menial. His most distinguishing feature is that he always smells and looks like a Sugarmelon. This odd quirk being the seemingly permanent result of an alchemical accident during his youth. Those closest to him know that his enthusiasm for his work can be a detriment as much as a strength as he frequently encourages his friends to be his test subjects.

Sugar hails from a family of Backwater alchemists in a marsh bog on the border of the Earth and Shadow territories. In his youth, he was constantly mocked for his smell which, while normal for a peat bog dwelling Bogsneak, was unpleasantly pungent to others. Fed up, one day Sugar set to work brewing a potion that would make him smell sweeter. The resulting concoction worked a little too effectively altering not only his smell but his appearance to resemble that of a Sugarmelon, the main ingredient in his potion. The effects remained long after they were intended to and persist even to this day. No matter what he rolls around in Sugar only ever smells like a Sugarmelon. While his efforts to fix his mistake never panned out, they did eventually lead to a very successful and profitable career as a fragrance artist. For a time Sugar was content with this work but he eventually grew bored crafting the same signature smells for the overly wealthy and often snobbish dragons of the region. In search of a change of pace Sugar suddenly claimed he was heading for more exotic lands in search of new and rare ingredients for a new series of perfumes. In actuality, he simply fled to the farthest-flung corner of the Icefields in hopes of hiding away from the public and pursuing his newly discovered passion for micro brewing. Pashek’s tavern and the Draumer Den’s secluded location became the ideal place to set up shop and test his new creations.

Sugar doesn’t seem particularly close with his home clan. When pressed he usually mumbles something about ‘success mongers’ before quickly changing the subject. He has no shortage of friends within the Den, however. Most of his clanmates have had need of Sugar’s skill at one time or another and his willingness to take time out of his schedule to craft whatever is needed is always appreciated. Although, he’s also quick to point out those favors when encouraging a dragon to help him test a new potion. His closest friend is, not surprisingly, Pashek and the two of them spend hours discussing how best to market Sugar’s brews and what food to pair them with. Oddly, Pahket and Sugar also have a strong friendship, despite Pahket’s love of silence and Sugar’s tendency to ramble. This is perhaps because they both share a common interest in horticulture. On the other hand, he seems to have gotten off on the wrong foot with Udana. Due to his appearance, Udana felt he was not paying the proper respects to her hall of the dead when he first visited it. Repeated attempts to properly explained himself failed and he was effectively banned from the hall until sometime later when Argonia had to intervene as a third party and explain on his behalf. Udana has since lifted the ban and apologized for the misunderstanding but things still seem awkward between the two.

The Fortress of Ends

Sugar arrived at the height of the excavations fame, it’s actually what first drew his attention to the Draumer Den in the first place. The chance to be the first to use any long-forgotten alchemical methods discovered at the site was too tempting a call to resist. Despite this, he was also one of the first to vote in favor of the dig sites closing. Far from superstitious, Sugar suspected that rather than an old Icewarden curse, the Excavation’s own fame would be its downfall. Having been down that particular road before Sugar sought to save the Den and Marco from that fate. So, he voted it down and when Marco had his accident Sugar teamed up with Able to create a Poultice that would help speed up his recovery.
