Biography
Lux the Enchantress Siren I won’t hurt you Theme: Every Breath You Take |
|
━━ story ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Luxury put on her best, weakest smile. It wasn’t difficult: she was tired, alone, in rags, and hungry. If nothing else, she could get a place to stay for a few days. The Imperial and the Ridgeback, enormous and well-armored, looked unimpressed. “We don’t have time for this,” the Imperial muttered under his breath as he stooped lower to see Luxury eye-to-eye. “Are you lost, or what?” Luxury bristled briefly at the impropriety with which he addressed her, despite his royal bearing. “I am…” she said softly, mind working quickly. “I’ve only been outside my clan’s territory once, as their former queen.” “Former?” The Ridgeback didn’t even look down at Luxury when she spoke. “Yes,” Luxury snapped. “I was ousted. A trickster and thief stole my throne and my people from me.” She whipped away, looking into the distant woods, and lamented, “Haven’t I helped them? Why would they exile me?” “Well, I’m sure I don’t know.” The Imperial sighed, as if he was being ordered to do something he didn’t want to do. “But we can’t just leave you to wander around in these woods. There are Tengu everywhere.” “Tengu?” Luxury repeated. “Gods.” The Ridgeback sneered. “Royals and their empty heads. Can you do anything?” Luxury held back her own sneer. If only the Ridgeback knew that she could do almost everything. “I’m an enchanter,” she said, finally. It was the truth, the only lie was in omission. “Mostly a mind- and body-enchanter.” “A mind-enchanter?” For a moment, at the Imperial’s harsh question, Luxury thought she’d made a mistake. But then he said, “I’ve been looking for someone like you.” |

━━ history ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
|
Luxury, or Lux as she’s known to the Tempest Chase, was once the matriarch of another clan, both revered and feared. In truth, she was devious, cruel, and selfish. She cemented her place in the clan using magic that inspired false feelings of trust in the previous leader, and when her status as heir was secure, she banished that leader to wander the Plaguewastes. When Luxury's duplicity was discovered, she herself was ousted from the clan in disgrace- and yet she still holds herself with the poise characteristic of a matriarch, and clearly dreams of returning one day to such a position of power. Luxury is coldly intelligent and manipulative, and is not above resorting to violence to achieve her goals. Her first run-in with the Tempest Chase was, fortunately for her, with Skjold and Magina. Though Magina was skeptical of the purity of her intentions, Skjold was enamored with her promises to help his brother. Luxury promised that she would be able to melt the magical bonds on Spjall’s memory, in exchange only for asylum with their traveling band. Magina was soon outnumbered and the Skydancer joined the company. Lux did everything she promised, at least to Skjold’s satisfaction. How could he have known that Lux began her trek to the top in the only way she knew how? Spjall practically worships her, though that might not be so unusual considering she gave him his mind and magic back. No one but Lux knows that Spjall now lives under her spell, just as much a prisoner as he ever was. She does manage to make herself useful to the Chase in other ways, to secure her position and inspire trust among the other dragons. Fortunately for her, the Chase’s leaders Lightning, Hydra, and Soren seem to have only barely noticed she’s with them. As an Ice dragon, Luxury enjoys the preservation of heirarchy, as long as she’s the one at the top. Many dragons, she finds, do seem to enjoy the comfort of the familiar order of things, the distribution of responsibility and resources. Luxury likes it, too. After all, nature has thus far dictated she is a true monarch, a ruler. She has no doubt that she can climb to the top again, no matter how slippery or crowded the path. |
━━ familiar ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Luxury is a suspiciously dainty dragon. No dragon could possibly be as helpless as she purports to be, and the same may be true of the pocketmouse, Fog. The first thing that most dragons notice about Fog is that she is not at all a friendly mouse, biting anybody that is not Lux no matter how much food they bring to appease her. She does not get along with other mice, and is frequently outcast from any group she happens to be near, despite never engaging in physical violence. She spends most of her time lounging in Lux’s tent, grooming herself. When she does go outside with Lux, though, she does seem able to forage like a regular mouse. |
━━ trivia ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» Luxury’s true surname is unknown to all in the Tempest Chase. The name the Chase knows her by is Lux Frostfire. » » Luxury is willing to put up with almost any inconvenience on the way to completing her goal: becoming the clan’s single ruler and matriarch. She’s even begun training in areas of physical combat, knowing there are many dragons she’d have to go through to get there. |
aesthetic: Even though she’s no longer a queen, Lux likes to dress like one: she loves jewels, gold, and fine fabrics. She keeps the local jeweler quite busy. |
likes: hierarchies, naive dragons, being in charge dislikes: smart and strong dragons, dragons immune to magic _________________________________________________________ |
