Velvet had always felt the color of her scales were calling her far from home. Born in Wind's breezy fields, she was known as something too good to hold on to. She aspired to learn the ways of magic for offense as much as healing.

Diavolo and Eclipse stumbled upon her in their travels. Eclipse saw a glimpse of promise in her green eyes, and Diavolo found someone who redirected his energy from nerves to laughter. Neither realized it was love until Celestis came along, snorting with all her years, about how they were dancing around the subject.

Then, how could Diavolo leave her behind? He traversed the Kelp Beds with trainees for Plague Mum, grateful for the treasure they left behind. He offered Fifty Thousand treasure pieces for the chance to have her come home. While he did this, she studied with Eclipse and showed her skills to her old Clan, making a point that she could go where she pleased and survive. Her clan accepted, and today she trains in the Ghostlight Ruins under Eclipse's tutelage and Diavolo's brute strength protecting her until she's ready to face the monsters on her own.

The clan welcomed her fierce gaze easily, and already Hatchlings love to have faux battles with her, tiny claws catching against her own. Her interest in them has caught Diavolo's attention, but he's far too shy to ask if she wants any. Luckily she's asked him and as of today they're sitting on a hour egg nest, proud as new parents can be.


Well first of all you must understand Velvet came from a different clan entirely. Born in luxury and too curious, she never quite belonged for all she was loved and they wanted her to stay.
She made no secret of her desire to leave, to practice magic, to learn how to brave the world by herself.
And Diavolo is an explored for his (my) clan, and there was a prophecy. His hair is red, the sacred color of our deity, so the clan decided to train him up to be the strongest warrior and have him search the world for them.
In his travels he came upon Velvet's clan... And indeed, Velvet found him more than he found her. A tiny thing compared to him, she nearly had him cornered anyway. Just to ask questions about the world you know, but still.
Diavolo by nature is a nervous, jumpy thing. Think too many coffees and high expectations thrust upon him at a young age. That's why his eyes are like that!
And Velvet... Her curiosity, the way she treated him like any other dragon she might find... Well, he was easily smitten.
She saw him as more of a way out at first, but he took the time to get to know her, and in turn, she learned about him. She made him laugh... And he told her of many things, worldly and of the past.
Diavolo didn't travel alone however. With the clan's mage Eclipse he roamed, and a fellow warrior named Celestis. Celestic instantly recognized the love and laughs at them because they're too dense to realize it.
Eclipse... She saw potential in Velvet. So she trained her in magic, though her own was far darker, Velvet's was far more tricky. She could make opponent so confused they'd punch themselves in the face instead. A valuable skill indeed.
And Diavolo brokered with the clan. They would let Velvet leave if he could provide them with Fifty Thousand Treasure Pieces by sunset.
Diavolo thought this was unfair to Velvet, but agreed anyway. If she choose to stay, she would stay. If she didn't, he would gladly take her with him. For love is forgiving, and light, and hoping for her future. So he went out and scavenged the wastelands for coin, braving enemy warriors all by himself. He refused even Celestis' help, saying it was his task.
Meanwhile, Velvet hears word, and a twitch develops at the corner of her eye. She knew Diavolo was doing it for her freedom more than any desire to keep her chained to him. And so she stood before the elders...
And without any help from Celestis, she displayed her most powerful illusion. Images flickering from feast to graveyards to forgotten caves, the Elders grew in awe. They said she may leave on her own now, and bypass Diavolo enitrely.
"No." She said, firm and unforgiving. "I wish to be with him, and wherever he chooses to be. It is you lot I have found wanting." She demanded they let him keep whatever he returned with or face her wrath.
They quickly agreed. What else could they do?
Diavolo returned with the required treasure and more, which the Elders quickly assured him had been a mere test to see his worth. He kept the treasure, and Velvet leaned against his side during the Elder's speech, obviously smug. Celestic kept cackling
and Eclipse had a knowing smirk on her lips. "She's a keeper," Was all Eclipse would say.
And they took the long trek home, Eclipse and Celestis insisting on scouting ahead to give them time alone.
