M achaon syntyi Tuulenpyyhkimän tasangon vanhaan aristokraattiperheeseen. Ainoana lapsena Jonghyun ja Bokyung pitivät poikaa silmäteränään. He perehdyttivät esikoisen hoitamaan hovin velvollisuuksia ja kunnioittamaan vanhoja arvoja sekä pitämään yllä suvussa kulkeneita rituaaleja. Machaon ei tuottanut vanhemmilleen pettymystä edes näiden siirtäessä tilapäisen hallintonsa Tähdenlennon saariryhmään. Tuulilohikäärmeenä hän kuitenkin tunsi kaipaavansa jotain vaihtelua rutinoituneeseen arkeensa.


Hoitaessaan vanhemmiltaan saamaansa tehtävää Machaon tutustui Damieniin. Pojista tuli erottamattomat, ja Damienista varttui miltei kuin puuttuva isoveli nuorelle lordille. Damienin ansiosta Lordi Machaonista tuli voittamaton perinteisissä turnajaisissa ja pelätty vastustaja colosseumilla.


Machaonin vanhemmat ja Chouchoun vanhemmat esittelivät nuoret toisilleen. Machaon suhtautui ennakkoluulottomasti uuteen tuttavaan. Koska molempiin oli juurrutettu vanhojen hovien opit, oli nuorten kuitenkin helppo löytää yhtäläisyyksiä toisistaan. Kumpikin vaikutti miellyttävän toisensa silmää, eikä kulunut aikaakaan, kun nuoret jo olivat kihloissa ja saivat tavata ilman ”esiliinaa” päätyen vähän väliä omille teilleen löytäen arvoituksia ja seikkailuita saariryhmän kallioilta.
