"My love, forgive my fatal mistake."

Cosmos was once a general of The Guild, he was revered for his skills in close combat, for a Skydancer he was quick and efficient, perhaps even too efficient. His squadron was versed primarily in assassination, it was a task designated solely to his group, as many saw it unpleasant.

Cosmos had no fear, he ignored all those who saw him as a murderer with a cause. There was no reason for him to care, because she was here.

She was Nautica, a Spiral General in charge of trade and communications, a calm dragon who had no enemies, as she was respected by many for her tact and intellect.
Oh but how they loved each other, two dragons with drastically different occupations and skills, and yet they were so very much in love. And so everything was fine, or at least it had been.

-

Cosmos had a team of five, himself included, he was accompanied by his four older sons from his previous engagement, all of them equally powerful for their age, and skilled like their father. The oldest son, Seraph was a prodigy at stealth, and had already married for the sake of the clan as his father had once done. Nautica was raising their new clutch of three, and Seraph had a clutch of four awaiting him at home.

Everything should of been fine, Cosmos had always been cautious and never left any survivors, he knew that would put his family at risk. However, he could not be careful enough.

-

Ther final mission, a task of wiping out an entire plague clan that was ransacking the beast clan populous that were their trade allies. A fateful night where the moon barely noticed the dancing shadows. Cosmos and his sons had reached the target lair, a small clan, barely established sparing the robbed weapons and hides of the beast clans people.

They stood no chance, the dragons in the clan were weak and inexperienced, Cosmos and his sons made quick work of the targets. As they approached the final cave they found a young Imperial, he was bound in chains and shackled, draped in cloth so only his head was slightly protruding. They stood at a distance, why was this child bound?

They crept closer, it didn't seem to move, perhaps already dead? A snicker came from behind it, and it rose. Suddenly, they knew why he was shackled.

RUN

Cosmos screamed to his sons, the Child Emperor howled and turned to the rear of the cave. As he turned to see if they were being chased his eyes widened. A mirror stood cackling, arms spread to the Emperor, and it devoured him. The crunch and scream reverberated in his mind as he turned to run. As he caught up to his oldest son he ordered him to run home, the rest would distract it until back up could arrive.
Seraph, being the quickest, ran with everything he had. That was their biggest mistake.

Perhaps, if they had all died there, then what followed may not have occurred, but for them, it was too late.

A rumble was heard in the distance. Nautica stood at the edge of her garden with her children and Peregrine, Seraphs mate, was inside cooking for her hatchlings. Perhaps it is thunder, she told herself. After all the clouds had been threatening them all day, the moon played hide-n-seek within the heavy clouds and only the lantern Nautica's young daughter Maria held lit their view.
Frightened by what they believed was thunder, the children demanded to go inside to eat. Nautica teased them, however she gathered her basket and made her way with them to the den. Her home was on the far edge of the clans territory, she knew it was a risk, but she wanted the space for her family.
The sound of steps caught her attention. She stopped in the gate as her children pulled at her robes. Go inside. The children happily obliged as she stood there. She could hear it getting closer, and then, the ground shook.

Nautica's eyes widened as the Emperors head rose above the trees, Seraph ran towards her and screamed Get the children and run!. But it was too late, far too late.

Peregrine ran out of the house frightened, Whats happening!?

RUN Seraph shrieked, his voice drowned out by the roar of the beast. Their fate was sealed.
The beast trampled over the home, Seraph and Nautica could do nothing, tears flowed from their eyes as the beast wrecked their den with everyone inside. Peregrine was crushed beneath his claws, Seraph could not bare to look on. Where was his father? His brothers?

Nautica on the other hand, she could not look away. The children, the children had all been inside. The children they-

MOVE

Nautica whipped her head to face the voice that called out, someone grabbed her and Seraph from behind as a few others arrived to the scene. Cosmos stood drenched in blood from head to toe, tears clearing a trail down his face. There was no one behind him, just a trail of blood, there was far too much to just be his own. He stood alone as the Council all worked together and slew the beast. He turned to look at Nautica, face contoured in shadow, as their eyes met and she knew. She would never see their family again.

Cosmos is one of Titus's most trusted clan mates. He was the 2nd person to join Titus, with his son Seraph being the 3rd.

After being exiled for his failure to protect his own family and endangering the clan, he and Seraph left in search of a new home. With their skills both were quickly accepted into a fighting ring, with no money or possessions they sold their skills to fight for others entertainment. For a few years they kept at it, tired and mentally calloused as they crushed their opponents with ease.

One day a small ruckus had everyone riled up and laughing, and in the buyers booth a small blue figure stood, eyes bright and eager.

"I want to buy out those two dragons!"
