Her intelligence is not her strong suit, but she makes up for it with cunning and force. With the long life span of a vampire, Callidora gained intelligence and knowledge. She is sturdily built. She is a heavy dragon, but much of that weight comes from muscle. An exerpt from The Ballad of Calladora In a green grove of the Gladeveins, Sky beget a child. Born burnished in bright blood and bold black, boding bad things. Kensia, Calamity called her. A cursed one, cast out by her clanmates. Calamity beseeched them not to, and she bawled when they banished the baby, But Sky, scared of a scourge from the youngster, stuck with the clan. But before they could banish her she bolted, blazing her own track through the branches. She wandered, weary, to the West and South. Woke to find white mountains. Alas, All alone in an alpine mountain, No groves or great green fields of grass, Without water, only with the sea as a fountain. A lonely, bitter lass. In a wild, white wilderness of endless winter, she took to stealing to stay strong. She began a band bonded with brotherhood, which grew into a group of greedy pirates. She sailed in the sea of the Southern Icefield, captain of careful crew, caring for little else. Upon the frigid foam, Kensia was a name feared. Brave but Blood thirsty, and barred from boring life. Kensia carried a carving blade to cut, showing a scary skill to wade through strife. She swaggered, swore, and smoothly strut. Pirate ____As a pirate, Callidora terrorized Sornieth. Although short, she was an intimidating figure. Her flag of a red pearl on black became a symbol feared. Gradually she went from a rag tag crew on little more than a raft to a seamless team of thirty-five on a large, sleek ship. Callidora was gruff and not very charismatic, so she held her crew together through the force of her will and her sharp blade. ____That loyalty was put to the test when a few of Callidora's crew members were offered gold if he betrayed Callidora. A powerful vampire was undertaking a voyage, and he had a personal vendetta against Callidora. He had sailed through that sea once before, and Callidora had robbed his ship and killed many of his men. He had escaped in a rowboat and had vowed revenge against Callidora. When the vampire's ship neared Callidora was shocked to see some of her crew turning on her. The traitors quickly overpowered the surprised other crew members. With her crew by her side, Callidora fell victim to the vampire's bite. No ordinary dragon could have taken her down, but against traitors and the supernatural Callidora doomed. Amnesia ____Callidora awoke on an empty ship adrift at sea. She had no memory of her old life, or even of Kensia, her old name. The bodies of a few of her crewmates lay on the deck. "Who am I?" Callidora wondered as she glanced around her. She caught a glimpse of a dark spot on the horizon. "Land," she said aloud. Her pirate skills were still there, even though her memory was gone, so Callidora was able to turn the ship towards land. Luckily, there was a breeze behind her and it was easy sailing. The now nameless dragon stared out at the horizon, tired and sore from a life she didn't even remember. As she drew into port, Callidora left her pirate life behind and started a new stage of her life. New Beginning ____At the docks, Callidora wandered along the pier. It was a shabby but happy place. Dragons bustled about, unloading ships and looking for customers. The crowd whispered and shrank away as Callidora approached. She was a fearsome sight, with blood covering her clothes and, she was soon to discover, fangs. When the vampire had tried to kill Callidora, he had instead accidentally turned her into a vampire. For now, Callidora had only a vague recollection of even what a vampire was. The dragon that was Kensia, notorious pirate took another name for herself. She became Callidora, thief of the docks and lurker in shadows. Callidora was once an imposing figure, but now she had little to eat and did her best to remain unnoticed. She lived off of the blood of the wharf rats, and stole coins in a vague attempt to save up money. Save for what, she couldn't have said, but Callidora wanted to be anywhere but the wharf. She knew she could sail a ship, but no one wanted to hire a dirty, malnourished vampire. Assasin ____One day Callidora was standing in the shadows of an alley when she saw a richly dressed merchant entered the alley. Callidora positioned herself to pickpocket the merchant, then noticed that someone else was waiting for the merchant too. Another dragon stood in the shadows behind her. He didn't look like a simple pickpocket. He was holding a well-sharpened knife, and appeared to be about to use it. In an instant, Callidora changed tactics. The dragons seemed to be planning to kill the merchant, and once he found her he wouldn't want to leave witnesses. Calldiora slipped over to stand next to the assassin, then bit deeply into his shoulder. This wasn't a bite to draw blood or a bite to change into a vampire. This was a bit of death. The dragon crumpled to the floor. Callidora realized that she might still be able to get something out of this. Stepping out of the shadows, she said "That dragon was preparing to kill you. I stopped him." She hoped the merchant would give her a reward. Bodyguard ____Instead, the merchant offered Callidora a job as his bodyguard. Working for the merchant, Callidora received a place to sleep (or rather not sleep most of the time, since she was protecting the merchant) and food to eat (mostly in the form of animals for her to suck the blood of). She also received a very small wage. The greatest thing the merchant gave Callidora, though, was a start to her career. A year later she was the bodyguard for an official. Two years after that, a lord. Finally, Callidora became the head bodyguard of a queen. She was honored for her battle skills and given every luxury. If she had remembered her past life, Callidora would have thanked the vampire for setting her on the path to being where she was now. Ruby Ring Trinkets A burnished gold ring, complemented by an illustrious ruby. Be careful not to drop it! 125 When Queen Alaya hired Callidora as a bodyguard, she gave Callidora a ruby ring. Callidora would hate for anyone to find out, but she had grown fond of the queen and, by extension, the ring. Ancient Knife Trinkets The engravings in the handle indicate that this tool was most likely used in food preparation rather than battle. 78 Callidora's preferred weapon is a knife. In order to have the right one for every situation she keeps a small collection. Her favorite was actually meant as a cooking knife, but Callidora found it worked well for battle as well. As a vampire, Callidora can take the form of a nightwing bat. She rarely uses the ability, as she has much less control over her body as a bat. Nightwing Bat Meat The Nightwing once nested with a darker, more cunning species of bat. That other species is now extinct. 20 2 While living as a pickpocket on the docks, Callidora found a straggly enduring goblin. Callidora found that they could help each other: the Enduring Goblin was a wonderful guard while Callidora was sleeping, and she was able to feed the goblin. Callidora swept up the path. Her green eyes glinted in the twilight, and her belly shimmered with an unearthly glow.
"I have been told," she drawls, "that if I come out tonight I will receive free treats. Several dragons have complimented me on my 'costume'." She laughs. "I keep my head, though, and say 'Why thank you!' instead of showing them how realistic I can be." She glances at the the costumed dragons hurrying from lair to lair. "Halloween is a wonderful time. For once, I am not unusual." She reaches the door to the lair. "Trick or Treat!"

I love layering different colours of mage apparel together; it's a cool effect! I get a dashingly roguish vibe from this girl, with her charmingly plumed hat and elegant black-and-red outfit.
