Vikenti's mother used to say he had an old soul.

When he was younger, he used to follow around the old warriors in his birthclan and beg to hear their stories. His parents often were busy with the rituals of worshipping Shadowbinder, so he had to find other entertainment. The other hatchlings bullied him for his unusual wings, so he found solace in the wise old dragons that valued the contents of his heart over the patterns on his body.

From them, he learned to fight. More than that, really. Vikenti's strength lies not in brute force but in clever strategy, and not the strategy of one warrior or one fight. No, from those grizzled warriors he learned war tactics--how to win a war quickly, brutally, efficiently. How to completely decimate an opponent's forces. How to end a battle before it started.

Such a violent life did not become him, though. Vikenti's mind may be a sword sharpened by experience and intelligence, but his heart balked from harming another soul. Instead, he chose the life of a diplomat--the opportunity to employ his formidable intellect, but for the purpose of preventing war, not waging it.

His true pleasure lies in instilling this desire for knowledge in his children, though. His mate, Dumah, is one of the clan warriors. Together, they comprise one of the three Noble lines of Saibhreas. Their children, so far four sons, have chosen to take quite varied paths. He had hoped to find a diplomat in at least one, but he is proud of them all the same. His second son by Dumah, Veliahd, has exhibited an affinity for balance and justice. His two youngest are so far excellent troublemakers, and his first has left to seek adventure in the Windswept Plateau.

Eventually, he has observed, all of his children either leave or seek purpose in serving the Stormcatcher. Whatever it is that they search for, he does not understand why they could not find it with their mother and father. Perhaps he is more attached to their hatchlings than Dumah, however; she is his greatest source of strength whenever another of their children chooses to run away. It seems they all inherit their mother's spirit and independence.

Now, he devotes his time to archiving and studying all the data House Eversun collects when Dumah trains with Blossom, the grizzled but cheerful war veteran who has been teaching the Valkyries how to fight and train others. He is beginning to discover information regarding the Runes curse that he noticed spread from Nainsi to her Consort, Zinnaerris. It was almost instantaneous after he arrived, but Vikenti remembers that he had a golden underbelly like his brother when he first joined. Now, he and Nainsi have nearly matching Runes glowing on their bodies. He didn't originally suspect anything, but now, with reports of mind curses and thought parasites coming through the Mire to Dumah, he is starting to worry.
