Rainier joined the clan with his sister, Ember. Seeking a new life, they settled in with little to no trouble; finally finding peace after his active past. He was previously a mercenary captain, and seemed finally ready to hang up the armour... Until he was offered a role as a trainer for the new guards. Vitus and Horatio both sought out his help, and Rainier had to step in as a mediator for the argument of which Captain would receive his expertise first.

(An excerpt from that conversation:
Vitus: I'm sure he is more suited towards a more direct approach-
Rainier: -Well I mean, I can fight with either style, but-
Horatio: -Aha! See?)

He eventually insisted on assisting both rivals with their training, and seemed to ease the relations between the two Security Chiefs. Gradually as the Lair got bigger, the three become close friends. A true band of brothers.

It was in this lair that he met his Mate, Yusra. He was attracted to her quiet strength and dignity, and fell for her warmth. He was deeply fascinated with her Charge, and was actually the first Dragon to solve the mystery. He mused aloud on a quiet evening that it was no surprise that she was chosen to be the Water Representative, if she had already been granted an almost mythical item to tend to.

Rainier and Yusra had a few hatchlings of their own; two were exalted, one left the clan to strike out on his own, and their remaining child, Cassandra, stayed within the clan. She is away more often than not, but she took her father's advice to heart and becomes a fearsome spy. He often misses her, but she keeps in touch and sends him and Yusra small trinkets from her travels regardless.
