There is a place torn into reality by the Shade, an echo of what it devours, trapped forever in unending chaos and misery. The dragons call it the Fracture, but to the beastkin people it is known as the Sleeper’s Domain. Here the world is turned upside down, ignoring time and chronology. There is no sense to the cesspool of lost hopes that is the Domain. It is a place of a of chaos and madness. The People claim it is governed by an ancient powerful creature called the Sleeper, and that to wake him is to invite doom upon the world. Whether this is true remains to be seen, but there certainly are things born in the Sleeper’s Domain.

Things like Grim.

Grim is not a mortal creature, they are a spirit -- an eidolon -- created from the mismatched memories of all that the Shade has devoured. They are an old spirit… or perhaps it is young? There is no time where it comes from, they have no need for time in the Domain, everything happens simultaneously. The Shade has already devoured all of creation there, but it can’t reach them, because they don’t exist.

The creatures of the Sleeper’s Domain are like glitches in reality, not supposed to be there but somehow managing anyways.

Eidola are not the only beings born from the schism between Shade and life, there is a plethora of creatures that are created there. Eidola, echoes, flickers and nightmares to name a few. All of these share the common theme of unliving existence, they are soulless creatures feasting on the emotions and souls of others. They can’t be killed, for to kill something there must first have been life, and none of the eidola or echoes were ever truly alive, they are a mockery of life.

Still they exists, a blight upon what the laws of physics and magic dictate. They are not unlike ghosts, but boast of a power that is much more tangible.

Eidola are not shades, and Grim does not share the Shade’s need to consume and destroy all around it. However it is still malevolent at worst and frustrating at best, it is still a chaos spirit. Their home Realm is a place for misery, forgotten hopes and lost dreams, hosts of the Whisperers. Nothing pleasant exists there and nothing pleasant will come from it, and the eidola are the worst of all their ilk, like the accumulated misery and wickedness.

Grim is a very powerful Eidola, able to manipulate reality by the grace of existing outside it. When you are not part of anything, it is much easier to see it clearly and understand how to manipulate it.

Because they are not native to this universe -- which even the Shade is in some way -- Grim doesn’t have to obey it. So they freely flow between shapes, ignoring the laws of mass conversion. One of the favoured shapes is two headed crow, large enough to make even guardian dragons wary. Otherwise they appears as mostly intangible smog and grinning maws. Their true appearance in the Sleeper’s Domain is an eldritch mess.

When masquerading as a dragon they become a mirror, with odd smoky tendrils constantly rolling off them, and red eyes in a shade wrong for plague dragons.

Grim usually keeps to themselves, but enjoys appearing in places of great misery, hate and distress. It is not unusual for the Sleeper’s spawn to be summoned by wars and battle, they feed of the negative energies after all. It is rare it interacts with living creatures, unless it is to frighten or warn. The spirits of the Domain all seem to have some sense of premonition, and are often depicted as ill omens when they flock to places of future or past carnage.

ABILITIES:
- Eidolon: Eidola are the most powerful creatures spawned by the Sleeper’s Domain, and they easily and effortlessly change reality in small ways. This is not magic, not even the absence of magic. It is more like consciously moving the strings of the universe, being able to see them because you are an outside force.

- Ill Omen: Most creatures of the Domain have a sense for where bad things will happen, and when. So they are often seen in the company of death- and omen Seekers, and like them have come to mean bad things will happen.

- Shapeshifter:Grim can change shape with ease, not having to use magic. They don’t truly exists, so their shape is merely a very clever illusion. They often appear as a two headed crow, a death seeker or a smoky mirror dragon.
