Aciere

Aciere has always been one for adventure. The more difficult the situation, the more she enjoys diving head first into it. She loves meeting new people and adores testing her strenght against them.
She lost two of her limbs to plague magic in a duel. Not that it would slow her down, though.

"She really is my blood," purred the crystal-scaled guardian as she watched Aciere's graceful dance in the arena. There had been many duels in the course of this day but this was so far the most exciting. The mirror was calm and agile, not showing any signs of fear altough he looked like a hatchling next to the giant guardian.
A fae next to Lasciel frowned and twitched his tail. "I don't know about this. Plague dragons are unpredictable at best and that one... He hasn't even blinked."
Lasciel looked at her charge. "So what? Don't you trust our daughter?"
The fae cringed. The words 'our daughter' still weren't easy to hear.
"It's not that. I just don't want her to get hurt."
"Nonsense. Look, she's doing fine."
The battlers were lashing out on one another, claws cutting and tails swinging. The crowd was cheering and shouting.
Lasciel looked at her daughter. She seemed to be enjoying the battle. There was nothing new about that. Aciere had always been fond to adventure and extremes. Lasciel smiled. Her little girl. There she was, facing the top warriors of the land to become the best herself. And she was doing so well, too. The mirror was defending. Aciere's razor-sharp claws had cut his side and he was limping, desperate to stay as far away from his opponent as possible. Aciere slammed her tail to the mirror and he flew across the arena.
There was a wave of applause from the crowd. Aciere walked towards her opponent. The mirror wasn't moving. All she had to do was to finish the battle and claim the victory as her own. She ran across the stadium and reached down to take the little red gem the mirror was carrying. Lasciel stood up, ready to cheer.
The fae next to her gasped.
"Oh no."
Suddenly the mirror sprung up and dug his fangs to Aciere's side. There was a scream of pain and then another one when the mirror continued to dig deeper to her left calf. There was blood and pain and the distinct sound of cracking bones. The arena fell silent as Lasciel's daughter fell to the ground, unmoving. The mirror ripped the green gem off from Aciere's neck and held it up as a sign of victory.
The cheering and applause started again but she didn't hear it.
