The Lair

The clan's lair is divided into two distinct parts - the Arcane side and the Nature side. These two places exist in opposite sides of Sornieth but are connected by a portal created by the arcane mages of the clan. Each side has it's own unique population and customs but they neverthenless concider themselves to be from the same clan.

Crystalpeak Plaza makes up the Arcane side of the clan. Located on a mountaintop near the borders of the Starfall Isles, dragons living here have accustomed living with both spontanious meteorite storms and rabidly spreading plague-born diseases. Despite all the possible health hazards that come with the place most of the residents seem to be rather happy - or at least too busy with their magical experiments to care about the hardships that may occur.

The main lair of the dragons living here is built over a set of ruins left behind by the ancient magi of the second age. Nowadays the caves and tunnels are full of life since the Plaza is the most populated area of the clan.

Other important places in the arcane side include the Seerwoods, the Nesting Peak, the creatively named Fishing Shore and the serthis tribe under the clan's protection.

The leaders of the Plaza are the clan's progenitors Diarmund and Toltec. Altough they are both strong and capable dragons determined to protect their clanmates, they prefer to let the people decide for themselves instead of shouting orders and making up new rules. In Crystalspine Plaza everyone is their own master - for better or for worse.

Here is a list of clans that have proven themselves to be friends in need.

1 - The Cave

The story of the tribe begun when the mirror Diarmund was exiled from her pack.
She wasn't a murderer per say but it was true that her recklesness and pride had cost one of her fellow hunters his life. She had to leave.
After wandering alone for a short while she found her way into a peculiar-looking cave in the mountains of Crystalspine Reach. She was only planning to stay for a night - the food was running short and she was going to need to hunt - so she didn't pay much attention to her surroundings.
That was until she discovered the Pillar.

***

She had almost fallen asleep when she heard a faint sound coming from above. At first she tried to ignore it but as the night grew darker, the humming became more and more intense. Irritated, she decided to go and make whatever it was making the noise to stop.
As she moved deeper into the cave, she soon realized this was no ordinary place. The tunnel was finely cut in the shape of a high-arching tunnel and there were carvings of dragons battling and praying on the walls. The place was full of pink crystals that illuminated the darkness with their strange glow. The tunnel forked, once and then twice. Some of the new tunnels lead under the ground, others went upwards.
Eventually she found herself in a large hall. There was no ceiling - the crystalline walls curved upwards until they met the night sky high above her head.
The room was empty with one exeption. In the middle of the circular floor stood a stone pillar. It was about the size of a small tree and it's gray surfcase felt cold against Diarmund's hand. On top of it was a small pyramid made of glass. It was floating few centimetres above the stone, held in place by some unknown force. Diarmund stared at it. First nothing happened. Then the object started to move. It rotated in front of her eyes, rising high above her head. She tried to reach it but it seemed to predict her movements, evading her touch.
"What the heck?" she muttered. The pillar had changed, too. She could now see it was full of carvings - glowing yellow runes that moved on the pillar's surfcase in strange patterns. They were alien and weird but there was something strangely familiar on them, as if she had seen them before in a place long ago.
She reached out to touch them.
There was a loud zap and the energy was gone. The glass pyramid fell to the floor and the pillar was once again a boring rock.
"Weird," she scoffed and turned away, back to the tunnels. She could always come back in the morning.

***

Diarmund soon realized that the mountain was an abandoned lair that had once been a home to a rather wealthy clan. Amused by her discovery, she settled down and declared herself the ruler of the mountain.

2 - The Family

The next person to join the clan was a guardian, Toltec. He happened to meet Diarmund while on his search and soon realized they were meant to be companions. At first Diarmund was against the idea of sharing her property but even she had to admit that life was much easier with somebody to rely on.
Toltec focused his attention in rebuilding the lair. He often brought back lost hatchlings and gladly opened the lair's door to strangers. Slowly, the clan grew.

***

"Eat up," said the imperial cheerfully. Rhaegan stared at his plate. It was filled with strange, squishy berries that had a sickly green hue on them.
"Err, thank you," he said and poked one of them. "Where did you find them?"
"I was in the Wandering Contagion!" the imperial explained. "They were tons of these near the Wyrmwound. The scenery was amazing..."
"These taste funny," said Lasciel from the other side of the table. She looked nauseous. Toltec was chewing his food slowly, a serious expression on his face.
"I need to go," said Myrra and ran away. Rhaegan could hear puking noises from the hallway. Diarmund sighed.
"That's it. I'm going hunting. Toltec, let's go together." She started to leave but stopped and turned. "Rhae, make sure the damn things are gone when we come back."
Rhaegan smiled. "Gladly."

***
As the tribe setteled in, the other dragons in the area started noticing their precence. The first clan that the tribe allied with was a group of bandits hunting in the Plaguebringer's name. The two groups met and soon formed strong bonds.
It was then when Diarmund had her first children.

3 - Azaron

Azaron, the firstborn son of Diarmund and Toltec. He was born in the middle of winter along with his sister Milmunir.
As the first children born to the clan they were adored by everybody. Diarmund was proud of her children, especially Azaron who was a mirror like herself. She decided early on that he would be the one to follow her as the tribe's leader.

"Wrong!"
Azaron lied on the ground, all four eyes closed. "Oww," he whimpered and held his hand. Diarmund glared at his son, eyes narrowed. He wasn't even bleeding.
"Stand up and do it again!"
Azaron looked hurt. "Mommy, I'm tired. Do we have to do it now?"
Diarmund slapped the boy.
"When you are talking to me, you'll refer me as your Mother. Not mommy, not mom. Mother. Now stand up and do it again!"
"No."
Diarmund bared her teeth. "What did you say?"
"No." His son wasn't looking her in the eyes but there was a tone of defiance in his voice. Diarmund slammed her tail against the boy and pinned him to the wall.
"How dare you to speak to me like that?! After all I've done for you? I've given you everything, done everything to make you the perfect leader you have to be!" She took a step back and let Azaron fall down.
"You are the future of this tribe. Never forget that. Now stand up and do it again!"
Azaron rose. He didn't say anything but Diarmund could see the resentment in his eyes.

***

Azaron didn't turn out as a good leader. The older he grew, the more angry and unpredictable he became. It was clear that he was becoming a danger to the people surrounding him so Despite Diarmund's dissaproval they decided to move the mantle of a future leader to his sister.

4 - The Forsaken

Myrra had always been one of the least regognized members of the tribe. She was the one who had always done the unpleasant chores and listened Diarmund's critizism. The only one she felt really understood him was Azaron, her childhood friend who was like a little brother to her.
But as Azaron became older, their relationship started to fall apart.

Myrra curled on the ground and let the tears fall freely on her face.

She looked down. The wound in her chest had stopped bleeding but there was a sticky, crimson-coloured mess on her feathers that made her want to throw up.

5 - In the Name of Love

Over time the tribe grew. Multiple dragons joined in, each for their own reasons.
One of the most suprising things was the large amount of mages that found their way to the Crystalspine Plaza. Apparently Diarmund hadn't been the only one to feel the strange magic coming from the Pillar.
Soon there was a whole community of witches, wizards and sorcerers living under the mountain. Some of these mages include timebender Aurora, gem enthustiastic Rune and herbalist healer Ansur.
The pack of mirror hunters also recruited more members. Soon the tribe was large enough to move its hunting grounds further, to the terratory of the Plague.

Azaron had always hunted alone. This time was no excuse.
He had followed the trail through the wastelands for hours, never quite catching the sight of his prey. Now he could tell he was close. He could hear the animals in the distance.
He took a deep breath and readied his mind. With his magic it would be an easy feat to sneak on the animals. He started counting down in his mind.
Three. He could see the herd. It was a small pack of maybe four or five.
Two. He bared his teeth, ready to shed blood.
One.
There was a noice, a cry of pain. One of the animals turned its head and growled. It had smelled him. In a matter of seconds the herd was gone.
Azaron slammed his tail to the ground, breaking a dead branch. Damn that noice. Whatever had made it was soon going to regret it had disturbed his hunt.
He turned towards the area where the animals had been. There was something on the ground. At first he thought it was a lump of grass or a pile of bones but when he walked closer he could see that it wasn't the case.
It was a dragon. A mirror like him. A female. The dragon was lying in the ground, unmoving. She looked like a corpse. Her wings were covered in dirt and blood. The scales on her body has been removed, baring the muscles and veins underneath them. Her breath was laboured and she whimpered quietly. "Please don't hurt me."
Azaron looked at her in awe. Such a pathetic creature.
"Please... Somebody... please help me."
He could leave her here. Snap her neck and let her out of her misery.
"...I'm so scared."
Azaron grinded his teeth. He slowly lifted the dragon from the ground and started a long walk towards the lair.

***

Azaron became very attached to his newfound charge, Sharia. They fell in love, Sharia's wounds were healed and Azaron looked happier than ever. Soon enough the pair started expecting children.

7 - Ideals

Ilexus frowned. It was no good.
"Um, no offense but... what is that?" the brown imperial asked.
"It's a pie. Or at least it's supposed to be."
"Err, honey, you might want to melt the butter next time before heating it."
"Really?"
Suklaa smiled patiently. "Right, darling. But why didn't you tell me first that you wanted to bake? I would gladly blablabla
