Biography

Seaberry

Seaberry

Named after one of his father's favorite treats, Seaberry was born in a wind clan like his mother before him. His father was a nature dragon, a gardener whose family had often tended the rare plant even though it was sea-loving. Some of his fondest memories were of him and his father journeying on a boat to his father's undersea garden. His father was proud of him, he learned to scuba-dive and could swim pretty well for a wind-dragon. His mother just laughed at them and their antics, but Seaberry was her first-born and as such she loved him fiercely. So she taught Seaberry the special wind magics to help guide their little boat, so her beloved husband could tend his odd garden without fear of not getting home safely. Summer faded and Seaberry grew restless, not wanting to hurt his family's feelings he wrote a small note and left it tucked under his pillow, packed his meager things and left at early dawn. He had heard of sea-going ships near the harbor, and desperately wished to see more than just this windy land. So, once he drew near the harbor he saw a medium-sized ship ahead. It had barnacles coating its sides, the crew seemed a bit rough, but it was a ship. After a morning of other ships turning him down, he decided to just stow away on the barnacle-ship. That evening he discovered it was a pirate ship, and once they found him he was made to be the cabin-boy grunt. He didn't much mind except, every night they would leave him locked up in a cabin while they would pillage all up and down the coast of the wind region. He was sad when he thought how proud his parents were of him, would they be now? Would they be worried? He felt awful how he treated them, and promised someday he'd make it right, somehow..
Then one day in late October, several months after he had first stole aboard, the pirates were singing and generally sounding much rowdier than normal. When Seaberry went top-deck to see what was all the fuss, he noticed a dainty tundra teen had been put in a large cage. She stood proudly, though shivering, and spoke not at all though they continued to banter her. Eventually they grew tired of their game and just set watch to her. Over the course of the next few days they discussed what to do with her. She ignored them all, was considered she might be a mute. While they were talking a stray breeze whipped through and deposited a small broken and bloodied bird near her cage. They all watched as she knelt and breathed on it, then it stood up, tested its wings and flew away! But its wings had been crushed and broken and bleeding! The pool of blood still lay at the edge of the cage. The pirates realized their good fortune, she was valuable and as such would now be locked up below-deck to keep her safe. She said not a word as she was led downstairs, but the tears trickling down her nose crushed Seaberry's heart each time one splashed on the wood leaving a trail to her new cell.
Several weeks went by before he came up with a plan, but once made he was determined to see it through. So he popped the pirates on their heads, stole Celestia and a small life-boat, taking only a few rucksacks of rations with them, set sail under cover of darkness to find a new life. He didnt know where he would end up, he only hoped Fate would keep him with her, for he now knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, his future, his destiny, lay in her gentle paws. Celestia was the keeper of his heart.
