~~Pirate~~ Captain of the Dodo
Honorable Merchant

Captain WhirlPool had once been the Captain RipFang of the Butcher Bird Pirates, a group of merciless killers and looters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. With adventure was in her blood and a thirst of gold in her gullet, she and her crew raided ship after ship and island after island- killing all that stood in her way. It was not till they had overtook a fine cargo ship that her fangs swayed from slaying. A nocturne quivered before her, clad in a finery fit for a prince. The Captain stole the nocturne from the ship and claimed him as her own. But the crew whispered, the captain had gone soft they said and in truth the Captain wondered that too. The nocturne spoke to her heart and her honor, calling back her old dreams of just being a sailor bold and true.

Captain RipFang, feeling these new pangs of conscience, refused to loot and pillage the next ship they saw- and the crew licked their swords and drew up their plans. They plied her with rum, strongly made with the sugarcane from the Zephyr Steppes, till she fell drunkenly to the planks. Then those treacherous scum beat and bludgeoned her, and then tossed SlipStream and her into the sea to be eaten by the thresher shoals circling the boat.

But those threshers belonged to SeaQueen’s shoal, and thus they brought the battered pirate and nocturne to Fallen Star Fort. The Captain was not put out by his situation and sought to rebuild her life into something much more worthy of a sailor like her. With the help of the builder, BowSprit , and the blessing of SeaQueen, she built a cog ship fit for a merchant prince. She deemed the ship “Dodo” in honor of Brush Dodo that had been her faithful familiar and mascot since her original pirate days. And with the new boat, she took up a new name, Captain WhirlPool. SlipStream became the Captain's first mate and her soul mate, and the Captain treats him like a prince of the sea.

And thus the “Dodo” with its new Captain and first mate took flight across the Sea of a Thousand Currents, a merchant vessel caring precious goods and cargo too heavy or too fragile for dragon back. It also transports many of the dragons of the clan across the sea, since the journey between the islands and shore is too long for dragon flight. Yet there is still adventure and gold aplenty for Captain WhirlPool, as she navigates across maren and pirate infested waters to obtain treasure for her wares and transport clan dragons across the sea.

Also she has sworn off rum, it is the devil’s brew as she calls it...though she does have the occasional sip now of good ale now and then. She has become friends with OpalJolt, the rough and tumble Ridgeback, they are both trying to overcome the hold that drink has on them.

"Please ta meet yah acquaintance matey! The Dodo is fit to sail and thee waves are singing sweetly taday. Tis a fine day for a voyage, would yah like to come and earn a bit of doubloons for yar pocket?"
