DANAE
The Poet eldritch ~ pensive ~ melancholy 
Danae does not smile or speak very often. Some think she is shade-touched, but in reality she is just filled with sadness. She does not trust easily. She adored each of her children, but sent each out into the world after she had made sure they could defend themselves. Her sadness only deepened after her mate, Cyperus, left after not earning a place in the main clan. She feels guilty, as if she had only tried harder or done more he could have stayed.
She does not have few, if any, close friends. Her words are her friends - her poetry is enough to bring the strongest of warriors to tears in a few stanzas. At first she kept her words close to her heart, only writing when she was alone in her empty lair in between shifts on the dusk guard. One day the Eternally Young, while carrying out one of their many pranks, discovered scraps of discarded verses. Before she understood what was happening Danae was thrust into the limelight and found a modicum of fame as a poet. She does not spend many shifts on the guard any more, for better or worse. “The melancholy river bears us on. Danae racemosa is a slow-growing evergreen shrub that is very hardy. Its common name is poet's laurel. In Greek mythology, Danae was a consort of Zeus and mother of the monster-slaying hero Perseus.
