Kumiko has always lived a happier life than most other dragons in Clan Meridon. She was born after the war that killed many of her race and she was born into the Clan. Kumiko has never cared about her lack of parents or family. She doesn't question her Lyren powers either, even though she knows nothing of her lineage. The only single question that Kumiko cares so much about is: "how did the Icewarden get her egg? And more importantly, why did he return it to the same dragons he tried to destroy hundreds of years earlier?"

"Icewarden! Are-are you- is everything alright?"

The two Sentinels who entered my quarters look between me and the fist-sized hole in the wall, and back to me, and back to the wall. The ice storm outside rages loudly in the silence between us.

"Is it the heart-?"

"No!" I roar and the two nervous Gaolers step back. "No," I say calmly, "it is nothing. Continue with your duties." The two exchange two uneasy looks, but leave my quarters without further discussion.

As soon as the door closes...
Ba-thump. Ba-thump. Ba-ba-thump. Ba-thump. Ba-thump-

I swear it's louder than before.
