A young paladin of Earth, who came to the Expanse fleeing the burden of his parents' religion. His Charge was discovered to be an ancient desert temple, now filled with strangers he does not trust. Despite his unease, his compulsion continues to bind him.

» ties that bind

» echoes of the past
His mother was a devout priestess, cold-hearted and obsessive, while his father tended her temple. They did not particularly like each other, and even as a child, he was disillusioned and bitter. Wanting nothing to do with the priesthood or their worship, he left home as soon as he was able.

He took his time meandering across Sornieth, under the guise of going on Search, but he always had one destination in mind: the Shifting Expanse. He’d be happy if he never saw a temple again, and Lightning seemed the place to be. He started to open up as he traveled, enjoying his freedom and for once looking forward to a brighter future. Until he stumbled upon a long-abandoned temple in the Carrion Canyon and discovered it to be his Charge.

He spent some time distraught, torn between fixing the place up or storming off entirely. Yet he could not bear to be away for more than a few days, even just for supplies, and time after time he returned. Reluctantly he resigned himself to solitude, wandering empty halls, alone but for the ghosts of worshipers long forgotten. It was not a life he wanted, but still he feared his father’s fate.

Does it make a temple happy, to be in use? Surely it cannot wish to linger, abandoned, unwanted. And is a Guardian’s purpose not the well-being and happiness of his Charge?
