Tawfret is a quiet, nervous dragon. She seems unused to the presence of other dragons, and startles easily if snuck up upon. Not that it's easy to sneak up on her! She's an accomplished mage and is highly attuned to the world around her. Not to mention her apparent extrasensory skills... and she also fights really dirty. You'll never actually get Tawfret's story out of her, but her mate will tell it pretty readily. She was born to Clan Goldwood, but even from her first days out of the shell it was apparent that there was something wrong with her: she has been plagued by terrible fits and visions all her life. The clan healer said it was an illness of the brain and ought to be treated, but the high priestess claimed she was Shade-touched. And needless to say, the high priest vastly outranked the healer. It's not apparent whether it was the healer or the high priestess that was right, or whether Tawfret herself has any idea assuming she even cares. Regardless, despite her problems and intense paranoia once you get to know her there is a very sweet and loving dragon buried under all the trauma.

• Tawfret was kicked out of Clan Goldwood when she was very young. This obviously didn't help her condition any. By the time Indil met her, she was semi-feral and barely remembers living with other dragons at all. There were a lot of stories about the "witch in the woods", who would kill dragons for ingredients for her potions. As frightening as Tawfret often appears, this was completely made up, and the dragons that had gone missing were dead for other reasons. The clan in general had pretty much entirely forgotten about Tawfret's existence at all and certainly didn't know that it was her that they'd caught glimpses of in the woods.
• Tawfret is a dragon of very few words; this is partly because she's just quiet, partly because she doesn't remember draconic very well since she was so young when she left/got kicked out. A lot of her early conversations with Indil were mostly just him trying to teach her a larger vocabulary. Even now after so long she hasn't gained a full adult vocabulary. If you talk to her she will probably understand the gist of what you're saying, though.
• There are dozens of long, shallows scars on Tawfret's head. These are the results of her past attempts to claw the visions out of her skull. She rarely tries to do it anymore, and when she gets that bad Indil is generally there to calm her.

• Tawfret has schizophrenia and is indeed Shade-touched as well. Her grasp on reality can be very shaky sometimes, but you'll often not notice it. She usually creeps off and hides in a tree until it's passed.
• She's also very magically-attuned to the world around her. She can sense subtle disturbances in the flow of magic, or even nearby dragons/creatures by their magical signature. Of course this also means she's very sensitive to negative magical effects. This is why she's Shade-touched, as Clan Goldwood lies smack dab in the middle of an area where the barrier against it is weak.
• Tawfret's name is a reference to the planet Tawfret from a game called Jet Force Gemini. It's a world suffering from severe rains/cloud cover accompanied by a zombie curse. Incidentally, Goldwood is also another planet in said game, under the rule of the same species that rules Tawfret. No real reason for telling you this, just thought it might be interesting trivia :P
