Coming from a long line of dragons that were highly revered warriors, when Adan was old enough to walk, his mother gifted him her grace and teachings.
She trained him, but made sure he also had a childhood he would be fond of.
His family was highly honoured among most Knights of their kingdom and had the glory granted to them of being able to live within the castle walls, close to royalty.

Adan was an odd child. Lacking any sense of emotion or showing he understood others'.
His mother was worried, but still loved him all the same and let others know that what he lacked in understanding he made up for people to be a good friend and ally.
He made good friends with two other children from prominent families in the castle.
Both girls. Spathi and Rayie.
With his new friendships his mother taught him to try his best and to ask others to be patient of him. She was thankful that he didn't feel much for others teasing him about who he was.
He was a strong child with a will of iron.
His father was proud of him, and the two of them looked forward to fighting alongside him in war when he came of age.

Still a child, his mother and father had gone to fight for their monarchs.
He was a smart boy and could easily be left alone at home to tend to it and take care of himself.
Adan wasn't like other children due to his emotional disorder. He was serious and could be trusted easily. Given a task, he would do it. He was responsible.

When his parents returned, his father was a broken man and his mother was a broken corpse.
She was buried in her garden of roses behind their home in the castle.

Adan's father had changed. Having seen his wife slain before him caused a great sadness and an insurmountable amount of anger.
He took up Adan's training in the stead of his mother and it was hard.
He took out much of his aggression on Adan, physically. Both in and out of training.
The boy grew into a man faster than others could ever deem 'right'.
However, those who knew Adan would know that he was a good person, and didn't show signs of emotional degradation from an abusive father.
In time the training made him have a high tolerance for pain, and soon his father was the one showing signs of losing in their spars.
He taught Adan well to defend himself, even before he entered for training into Knighthood, which Spathi and Rayie had joined as well.

Adan's instructor took note of Adan's strength and knowledge and made sure to pit him against others that were closer to his skill-level.
He was certainly a personal favourite, and the man took him in along with a handful of others under his direct wing. Among these were his friends.
Together they were inseparable and powerful.
Adan was thankful for them, as they had been with him so long and even now he was proud of them for who they were and the power they had.
Even years ago he knew he would follow the two to the ends of Sornieth.
In fact he looked forward to it.

In time, however, the three friends dwindled to two.
Rayie had lost someone dear to her and it changed her.
The same change he saw in his father when his mother had died.
He became wary around her, kept his distance.
When she would make sudden movements he would flinch into a defensive position.
This taxed them. And Spathi constantly battled and fought with her until it was over and Rayie went her own path.
Adan was saddened, but at the very least he had Spathi, who he came to have feelings for.

Adan would never burden her or her dreams with something so simple and unnecessary as love.
He thought logically and realistically. For him love wasn't an important trait.
In time, he grew suspicious that she may also have had feelings for him, but so many things were happening, Spathi simply didn't have the time for such things either.

Rayie had taken the throne that Spathi had coveted and thought was rightfully hers.
Adan was stuck between him, but his path was somewhere else.
War was on the horizon, and Rayie had sent him off with her army to destroy those who would dare to trample into her territories seeking battle.
It wasn't his first battle, however for Spathi and Rayie it was his last, for when the soldiers returned, he was not among them and were told he had been slain.

Among the corpses on that field, Adan lay crushed beneath a few men, but he was alive, and he was later found, however by the men of the opposing faction.
He was taken in as a prisoner, where he spend three months of torture for information on Rayie and her kingdom and what her plans were.
Adan never spoke a word to them, no matter what they had done. Again, another reason his condition and the things his father had taught him had helped.
They couldn't keep him long. Despite having a broken body, once Adan had his mind set on something he would do it no matter the cost.
He sought to escape, and he managed it. Even if he must crawl.

Adan's escape was successful, however his body had given out on him in a large field of wheat out in a far off countryside where he was found days later and taken in by a traveler.
He spent years healing from how broken interrogations had left him, and with training and putting his mind to it, he was able to walk again, though with a terrible limp.

Returning to his former instructor's home in Rayie's kingdom, he bothered not to see her, and no word came to her that he had been there, but it was in the man's home that he learned that Rayie had killed Spathi for battling her for the throne, but rumour had it she was alive and collecting a vast army. Her life was gifted to her by the Shade.
His former master told him to seek her out, and to either bring her back in, or to give her peace.
The man let Adan leave, knowing that the two had feelings for one another, and knowing that Adan would likely never return.

He never did.

Upon finding Spathi, he vowed to himself that he would not leave her side again.
That she would never be killed as long as he lived.
She offered him the gift of the Shade, and he took it with no hesitation.
She wanted him to be powerful for her and her cause. Her fight for the throne was not yet over.
The Shade healed his body as best it could. He no longer limped when he walked. He was stronger, faster. For her.
Spathi granted him the position of her Personal Guard. Her only one. Knowing he was the only one she could trust.
And it is beside her that he stands to this day. In and out of battle.
Although he does not like the outcome of Rayie and Spathi's lives, he chose to follow Spathi to the end of his days long ago. He still felt love for her even now, and feels he always would.

He would do anything for Spathi. Even kill a former friend.
