Ae-Ri // To Love
Kind // Patient // Weary  
It is all she has done; love. Ae-Ri has always suffered from a big heart. Despite how her and her brother's captures treated them, destroying the all left her shaken and devastated for months. She knows that if she and her brother were not connected in this way, he would have killed her long ago. So she dis her best to keep on par with him from birth. This, as proven, was futile. As a child she was kept in the back of a clan that radically followed the Flamecaller, only kept alive because killing her, they believed, would damn the entire brood. Though she will never tell her brother, she was not simply ignored in her molten enclosure. Men of all ages and sizes sought her out to mother their children, in hopes that they will be revered as holy in the eyes of their deity. Ae-Ri has mothered hundreds of children, most of whom have been dead for years. He body was not meant to bear children and those who survived their hatching did not hold any special abilities and were killed without a second thought. As she got older, the amount of nests she was forced to lay only grew more frequent until about a week before her brother was forced upon her just like everybody else. At least with him, he was kind to her and he held her where others pinned her down. At least with her brother, she was treated like something precious. They stayed close while their infected nests incubated. It was during these short days that the two felt closest. They talked of days when the sun would break through the tar-like smoke and when rain would fall. It was days like these that Ae-Ri was able to hold onto her sanity amidst her grief and struggle. The day they escaped was the happiest and most damaging day of the young mirror's life. She had never killed before this and it was evident in her minuscule body count compared to her brother's. But he protected her and she held her own and they were free. During what she refers to as their "champion years", pursuers came for mainly An-Kor, leaving Ae-Ri to herself to train on her ow just to keep up with her brother's progress. Due to how stunted her development has been since birth, where An-Kor's scales and plumage blossomed with striking patterns and designs, hers have remained stale and unchanged. Currently she stays by her brothers side, supporting her where she can and others where her abilities cannot benefit her brother's. |
